Nene's a much better offensive player than Scola. Look at the shooting %s, free throw rates, Offensive Win Shares, ORtg, it's really a landslide.
We are not trading Gasol for Howard - if that were possible LA would be doing that. Orlando does not want Gasol, they want to rebuild the right war. If we want Howard we can try to package some of our young talents (PPat, Morris, Lowry) with someone like Scola or Martin (so the salaries work) and our two future first rounders. The problem is: if we do that, we don`t really have a good enough team around Howard so that he would consider extending his contract with us.
How are we so sure that if we get Gasol, Nene will come play with us. I'd rather play in NJ with DWill and possibly Howard (that's if he gets traded there). That sounds a lot more enticing to me if I were Nene.
Why in the world would you want to build around Nene? He is not that good of a player. I'm sorry he just isn't.
Patterson was here today (not in the practice though because of the ankle I believe). Scola was not and Martin only showed up to lift weights on his own (he was not supposed to be here). I wouldn't tweet this, but the reason no one knows anything is because neither do any of the teams. They've been in limbo for like 9 hours or something crazy. No one knows what the deal will look like in the end... not even the Rockets. It's an unprecedented situation where the league owns the team and believe me ... everyone is frustrated.
Wow and damn is all I can say. I've been glued and refreshing for the past few days and nothing. I'm almost at the point were I don't even care just want some type of deal so I can move on with my life.
The reason I believe is because early yesterday it was reported that Nene to the Nets was pretty much a done deal. It's been more than 24 hours and he still hasn't signed with them. Makes you believe he's waiting for something, perhaps a trade that will probably get done right around New Year's Eve at this rate
Then why bother trying to trade with them? If Stern is going to be this tough of a negotiator, then why even bother? I hope DM knows what he is doing, he is really going all-in with this... DD
Nene shot 57 % on post up chances, which was among the top of the league. He also has a decent mid range game and is definitely a better defender. Sure Scola is better offensively, but not a lot better. Nene is clearly the better defender. Scola>Nene on offense. Nene>>>Scola on defense. I see what you are saying about the risk though but isn't this whole thing a risk blowing up our team?
And in 1-2 years when the Lakers have a backcourt of two gimpy-kneed used-to-be-All-Stars, this trade is going to be looking pretty damned sweet from my viewpoint.
