That's old. Aldridge said they hadn't submitted a new deal yet still working on it. Latest reports Morey trying to include more players to free up salary to match Nets offer to Nene.
I have a question. There is no doubt that DM is doing everything in his power to make this trade happen, even if they have to "sweeten" the deal to clear space for Nene, even if that means overpaying for Nene. Do y´all really think that Morey thinks that a team with Nene/Gasol is worth overpaying for, or Morey is doing everything in his power to sign Nene and then trade him for D12 (I think this is possible, but correct me if I am wrong)? I am not saying that D12 wants to be in Houston, or anything like that, I just don´t believe that DM thinks that Nene is 16M per season good, and a combo of Nene and Gasol is enough to lead this team to the promise land. The fact that we are all in in the Gasol trade makes me believe that Morey has a strong feeling about this, and I am with him, I just hope that Nene at 16M per is not the answer, even tho I like Nene as a player, I just don´t think he is 16M good. I think Gasol is a monster, and the age for me it is not a concern, but damm I hate how soft he plays sometimes, screaming all over the place, hope McHale goes hardcore on him.
Nene is better than scola..... I know we love the guy and his hustle and heart but can you seriously tell me you know enough about Nene to say Scola is better.
And there still won't be resolution to whether this deal is official or not. I went to bed last night at 4 AM and the last post I read was a tweet saying the "deal was official". Here we are, 14 hours and still nothing really new
Perhaps. If you are only looking at offensive production. Scola really does not play the other side at all. Think defensive liability.
I think it is not as clear cut as you are saying.....look at how they play when Brazil vs Argentina is going on.... Scola is a much better offensive player, Nene is a better defender..... Scola costs less, Nene is younger but has a history of cancer. Scola wins in the risk/value side of the equation. DD
but nene @ 16 and D12 @ 16 doesn't look so bad. Does it really matter if nene is 12 and D is 20? Overpaying in this case could get you the player you've been in the hunt for all along.
If the earlier rumors that C Lee was thrown into the deal end up being true, without any cap-room (Nene or whoever) and no picks, is VC or Josh Howard really our only vet choices at SG?
Actually, this is not true Nene in 30.5 mpg averaged 14.5 ppg with 60+ FG%, 7.6 rpg, and 1 block Scola in 32 mpg averaged 18.3 ppg 8.2 rpg 50% fpg less than a block Scola is much better offensively
No, I am not assuming Gasol is a better YOUNG centerpiece for a rebuilding franchise than Lopez. What I am assuming is Gasol has more trade value than Lopez. He can be turned into more assets than Lopez can. And he is more wanted by teams building to make the playoffs than Lopez is. If Orlando moves Dwight, they are rebuilding, they are going to the lottery, THIS SEASON! So, the thing becomes, what is the maximum value they can get in expiring contracts, young talent, and picks for Dwight. Orlando has stated they aren't going to trade Dwight to NJ without NJ taking on Hedo. So if that happens and NJ amnesties Outlaw, how they gonna sign Nene to $16 mill per????? Not happening!!!! Here's an idea for you. How about we get Gasol and then get Nene committed then approach Denver with a S&T for Nene using Gasol????? Thought of that one? Or....how about seeing what a team like Minnesota would give up in young talent for Gasol?????? How about the Clippers???? Do you think they would flip Kaman (expiring contract) plus some young talent and/or picks for Gasol???? There's more teams!!!! Gasol has more rebuilding value than Lopez because he can be traded for a greater haul than Lopez can!!!! Get it! Now............here's the thing with DWill. IF we got Howard here, it's going to cost him money to leave here and sign with New Jersey. And......if Howard and Nene are here.....we're aren't going to trade both of them to NJ to unite their big 3. But if both Nene and DHoward are here...........then DWill has the leverage with NJ. He can tell them he's leaving at the end of the season and going to sign outright with someone else. He can force them to trade him or lose him for nothing. He can either go play in Dallas with Dirk and Dally, because they will have the cap space to sign him outright. Or NJ can do the smart thing and trade him to us for Lowry a TPE, and some future picks........and get us to take Outlaw off their hands with our Battier exception. So, they can start over, tank, and go to the lottery with Orlando. There's all sorts of options with Gasol.........Rook. Crazy Jo
I know stats arn't everything however there first three years look similar. Lopez may never ba as good as Gasol but he is young.
Les is pushing Morey to keep the team competitive and he won't let him rebuild in a traditional fashion. I don't Morey would normally chase Nene at this price if he wasn't under pressure from ownership.
In a normal situation, on a team with a typical GM? No. But as much as you can fault Morey for, one thing he isn't is short-sighted. If he signs Nene for near the max, it's because he's confident other teams see that kind of value in him, too. Meaning he'd be easily moved for a bigger, better piece of the puzzle when the time comes.
According to Slick Puker on ESPN, the new trade proposal probably involves a 4th team: Minnesota or Cleveland or Boston Minnesota making the most sense to me.
