I agree completely. Morey knows he can miraculously find B-level and C-level players anytime he wants -- he's got a strong track record of doing just that over the last few years: AB, Landry, Lowry, Patterson, etc. These guys were barely on the radar of other teams and we all screamed when we first heard their names associated with the Rockets. And they ALL panned out to be pretty formidable supporting talents.

At this point, DM is looking for A-level guys, and Gasol and Nene fit the bill. They may not be A+ guys, but A+ guys are nearly impossible to acquire -- even through the draft. There just aren't that many of them to go around. So Morey's looking to add A guys, rebuild the supporting cast, and roll the dice for this year. Then next year or at this year's trade deadline, he'll look to find that A+ guy and will have the assets to hopefully pull it off.

Anyone who thinks Morey is making this trade in a vacuum without an eye on the bigger picture has obviously not been paying attention to the way he does business.

Call their bluff. If Dwight wants to go there so bad he will wait and opt out and sign out right. Morey just keeps adding more and more.

Erm, you know he's already 29 right? How many All Star appearances from him are you expecting?

Sure he does. Morey drafted him with a bigger picture in mind.

Morey looks at the big picture, something you guys can't seem to comprehend.

You cannot bet the farm on a rental. Or how the ping pong balls fall for that matter.

Can he though? It feels as if the weight of the entire league is pressing down upon us, forcing us to play ball or face the wrath of an extremely biased leadership.

Theyre just hitting their prime though.

Hakeem won his first ring past that age

he was also a rookie...he has shown good potential to get better. I would keep him over Morris.

Can he replace them fast enough? Let's see.

    Out: Patrick Patterson

    In: Marcus Morris, Donatas Montiejunas

    Out: Courtney Lee

    In: Sergio Llull

    DONE.

Look, I would HATE to lose either Patterson or Lee and like both a lot, and I really doubt we are giving up that much. But let's get this straight we are talking about Patterson and Lee, they are replaceable by people already on the team.

Actually I´m scared of Paul and Howard and whoever else they might attract.

But his point is valid. Morey might find or draft for quality players - but right now after this trade, we really only have 2 quality starters (Gasol and Lowry). Lee is serviceable but CBud/T-Will and Hill/Thabeet should be bench players at best. There is a huge question mark at the backup guards and backup PF. Now even if we sign a quality big like Nene, this team is way too far off to being a contender.

The Lakers last year couldn`t win with Gasol / Kobe / Artest / Bynum / Odom. That`s two elite players and three above average players. Our roster is nowhere near their roster. And we don`t know how motivated Gasol will be after a trade he did not want, with a team that doesn`t have as much quality.

Nene is not an A level guy in any sense and is not worth a max or near max contract.

Perhaps if you took time out from posting and actually read, it'd help. We didn't get Morris to replace Patterson. We also didn't get him to play the 4, unless he's playing it as much as Battier did.

If we get Pau, then we may also be able to attract Marc
