Jordan Hill and Jonny Flynn don't count as assets, at this point. Until I have a reason to think otherwise, I'm choosing to believe the Rockets tossed in a couple "young" players in age to allow Stern to save face and say the Hornets acquired younger "talent" in the revised deal.

    Why the sudden pessimism?

That`s what I´ve been preaching. Gasol does not make this team a contender - he sets this team back a couple of years. Now if we have to include some players of our future, we have no plan b. This has the ability to set this team back for the next 10 years.

Either go all in now, trade the young guys but keep Martin and Scola (although I wouldn`t bet on this team) - or do the smart thing: walk away, get young guys, get draft picks (even if they are non lottery picks). No tanking necessary, just let the young guys develop.

This certainly does seem to be spiraling out of Houston's favor. I would've been content with the Scola/Martin/'12 pick for Gasol, but if we keep getting milked for what we've got then this is really just going to be all about L.A. and N.O. getting everything they want and Houston getting something marginal in proportion to what they gave up.

There has to be someone else coming to Houston if this is going to go through. I believe that Morey has the shrewdness to make it happen.

I cannot believe this softie stuff. You cannot be a softie playing major NBA minutes in the paint, collecting 2 rings. That fans even makes that statement is totally ludicrous.

Jesus, this is what I was scared of, Lakers still in route to get Howard. If this is the case, I can't image why we would be helping facilitate the next dynasty of our generation. It really doesn't matter who we get, Gasol, Nene, or hell, even if we get lucky and score a stud back court player next year, we're still not beating a Lakers team of Kobe, CP3, and Howard. The only way I would even think about helping facilitate this would be if we were getting some young stud who we ourselves could build around. And hope that we can be relevant when Kobe is retiring. But getting Gasol / Nene are not exactly rebuilding pieces, they are win now pieces.

Again, if Lakers get CP and Howard, I don't care WHO we get, we lose out.

Don't worry, Dwight will go to Brooklyn.

He's dreaming right now about the pick and roll with Deron Williams.

Hope to hell Deron Williams colluded the hell out of Dwight to sign with them.

They got better assets than the Lakers for sure.

Lopez and picks > Bynum and Odom.

I've defended the deal and I want it to go through, but if Patterson's involved and we get nothing else in return, I'll go apes***.

Patterson and/or Lee AND picks? On top of everything else? Hell no, time to pack up and call it a day.

Not even talking about the young talent. Its the possibility of the Lakers getting both Howard and Paul.

I'm perplexed that some of you are ok with us giving up even more in this deal.

I agree with this whole heartily. It is unforgiveable if he forms the LA superteam by giving New Orleans all of the assets it takes to get Chris Paul for the Lakers. He needs to be fired if he does and we get raped at the same time. It wont be a close debate with other fans either if that becomes the case.

Because if you want the deal to go through, you don't get caught up over losing guys like Jordan Hill or Flynn or Thabeet.

I seriously just don't get this. The NBA vetoed a deal basically because they wouldn't allow Paul to dictate where he'd go. Now they're saying it's ok as long as HOUSTON, of all teams gives up more in a deal in which it seemed the consensus already was that we were giving too much (and not just to Rockets fans) and protect the Lakers' chaces of getting Howard??

I'm losing respect for this league really fast...

As long as theyre player who'd rot in the bench anyway, I'm game. But if tehyre' rotation players like Lee...I'll be pissed.

I feel the same way. That article that mentioned renewed talks involving Lee, Patterson, and even more draft picks made me sick to my stomach. I think that would be a worst case scenario. We'd need to get more than just Gasol to ease the chaos that would ensue in the world of Rockets fandom.

I don't understand how of the two stars being traded we are getting the older, more expensive and less productive one yet we are the team giving up the most talent.

They're blinded. They just want it to go through to say "hey the rockets made a trade!"
