Chandler is not worth almost $15 mil a year. He is a glorified role player who happened to be the missing piece for an already pretty good team.

That's overpaying a bit, but still it doesn't make them a championship team. What are they going to do with their backcourt?

Hearing Tyson Chandler's deal w/Knicks WILL end up as sign-and-trade w/Mavs, but Dallas will take back TBA low-salaried player Knicks choose

Mavs' goal in that scenario would be creating sizable trade exception, since Chandler's first-year salary w/Knicks will be more than $12 mil

Full mechanics of how deal will work w/new cap rules still be worked on. But Knicks/Mavs aiming to turn Chandler deal into sign-and-trade

Whether this deal works out or not for the Knicks, it just goes to show they still have some the incompetent front office tendencies of years past. Should have declined Billups option and used the amnesty on somebody else. Now they get to (more than likely) pay most of Billups's salary for the upcoming season.

This move makes the Knicks a lot better, but they completely overpaid the guy. They better make the conference finals at least with this move.

They don't have any depth at PG or SG.

They signed the corpse of Mike Bibby just today though.

Just glad we didn't sign him!

Knowing he's off the market is such a relief to me.

OVERPAID, if you look at the signing in a vacuum. The new CBA is already saving owners by reducing the max length of contracts to 4 years.

But when you look at the signing with other considerations involved, such as the Knicks being the Knicks, sigining Chandler guarantees them an annual 2nd round playoff appearance which will play for the oversized contract itself. That is, of course, none of their 'big 3' breaks down.

This trade would be even better if they fired D'Antoni and had a legit PG. Who the hell is their PG right now?
