You know, I was thinking a lot about that myself when it became evident how huge of a contract the Rockets were thinking about giving him. My first thought was, 'hey, Scola scores and rebounds better than this guy, and it isn't like Nene is some sort of defensive stopper or even a true center. Why trade away Scola for the mere chance to sign someone who is seemingly worse.' Well, but that's just looking at regular stats like rebounds, points etc. If you look at the nerd stats (PER, Win Share, Offensive rating, true shooting percentage, etc.), then it is no contest. Compared to Scola or Al Jefferson, the nerd metrics make Nene's impact shoot off the chart. Now, Morey and his ilk may be over thinking things on Nene, or maybe not. I commend Morey on putting himself in a position to at least try and improve (face it, we were stuck in mediocrity before). He's going to have to stick to his guns and the method that has given him the success he has seen so far, and continue to rise or fall with it.
chadfordinsider Chad Ford Lots of speculation that Emeka Okafor is in the new CP3 deal. Source says he is not part of trade. John Hollinger Would seem to me Nene is waiting on this Pau trade. Rockets could go 4-64 or thereabouts if they wanted to.
Sounds like a great trade to me, except the Lakers should be giving their 1st rounder (not us)... then it would be a more awesome trade! :grin:

When I looked at the amount of money and years and that was removed with moving Scola and KM, I'm now ok with this deal, especially if we get Bynum instead of Gasol. I see him working with Dream and getting better. I would love to add Nene to the PF position and then that frontline looks real good.
And that deal allows Stern to save face. It also cost LA their two bigs, so I can see small market owners grudgingly accepting it.
