You are right. My point however is that I would prefer Morey working with this base of players than what we currently have. This way we are putting our stock in that maybe one of your youngsters will turn out decent (P. Pat, M. Morris, T-will, D-Mo farther down the line) Not only that but if we somehow field a pretty competitive team this year with this lineup I believe it will be easier for Morey to trade the assets/players we would then have for a more significant piece in a year or two now that we have a legit star in Pau. I would rather take this approach then pin my hopes to a Nene/ Gasol frontcourt that doesn't convince and then will leave you with untradable contracts
SamAmicoFSO Sam Amico NBA GM tells me he's heard any deal that delivers Chris Paul to LA must also send Andrew Bynum to NO. "But I'm on outside looking in."
Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen Finally out of car and back on twitter. (Sorry for the wait.) Deal still very "up in air.' Kevin Martin, Luis Scola not practicing today.

Maybe we're angling to make a midseason trade (Nene + whatever) for Dwight Howard to pair him with Gasol? Twin Towers, part 2. If the Rockets are successful this season with that pairing, that might be enough to convince Howard to stay with us. If not, well, we'll have a ton of cap space to pursue someone else in the summer.
I'm sure he would want to continue the successful Center legacy that we have had in the history of the Houston Rockets. Olajuwon, Yao and then Howard... I could see Daryl Morey presenting Howard with a powerpoint presentation of the great centers we have had in our organization, then at the end have a "?" of a player model then revealing the "?" as Dwight Howard in a Rockets uniform...
If so that's because Gilbert and his cronies don't want to see the Lakers trade for Howard using Bynum.
