what is status of our own pick? does someone else already own it or are we giving that up today as well?

I think the Rockets are hoping that Terrence Williams (who we traded our pick for) makes up for that, but I'm not optimistic.

If we make the playoffs, it's NJ's pick..

But no.. I don't believe it's part of the trade.

Seems to me that only way this deal could be revised is to put Bynum in for Odom and send Okafor back to Lakers.

He thinks the same thing. There's a piece missing here. I just can't imagine the Lakers giving up Bynum.

You can't trade a commited pick.

Rockets can't trade the 2013 first round pick either.

I believe we can trade the protected part of the pick, can't we?

Having trouble seeing what LA could send to NO for Okafor ($12.5m) though. Matt Barnes ($1.9m) expiring + Luke Walton ($5.7m, 2 years left) + Fisher ($3.4m, 2 years left)? They also have Caracter and Ebanks for a total of $1.5m.

Would they really prefer to get this collection of useless players purely for salary relief in a year? Seems questionable.

From the Lakers side, a team of Paul, Kobe, Bynum, Metta, Okafor is very good, though not necessarily a championship favorite. Very unlikely Orlando would take a trade from them after that. Bynum is the only asset they'd have left.
