stern isn't in this to make the lakers better. the trade wasn't vetoed because the lakers were getting too much either. it's all about the hornets. they can't get equal value for paul, but are they getting decent value in return? with 3 borderline all-stars? yes. but that doesn't set them up well enough for the future. stern wanted picks, young players, and cap space (moving okafor). so the lakers get another good player. good for them, it still helps the hornets situation.
no first round picks per clutchtweet...absolutely ridiculous if true. i do not agree with tanking to rebuild, but you have to keep your pick in a deep draft.
The Knicks pick is almost certainly in the 20s. You can easily buy/trade your way into that range later, as Les has before, if there's someone you really want.
Scola to the Lakers? Bynum to the Hornets? The keep Odom? Character maybe? Bzzzzzzzz. I guess it'd be really bad for chemistry to keep Odom (maybe get rid of him in a hypothetical Howard deal). Ok. Let's start again. Scola and K-Mart to the Hornets, as well as the 2012 pick. CP3 goes to LA. LA only send draft picks? Naaaah. They receive Ariza or Okafor, so they must send someone else too (not Odom). There's a piece missing. Probably some of their drafted kids...
So the Hornets get Ebanks, Character and a pick instead of Odom and the Lakers get Okafor as well? Is it me or does this trade seem better for Lakers?
