Okafor looks like a damn bargain compared to Dalembert at $9M or Nene at $17.5M. Just sayin...

Also, I'm really shocked the Rockets couldn't get the Lakers to take on Thabeet in the deal; would have saved Les $5M in salary that needed to be paid, and it's not like the Lakers mind taking on extra salary at this point.

Really smells like Dalembert now, perhaps with no Thabeet amnesty? I'm thinking Nene was plan A, Dalembert + Chuck was plan B, and Dalembert + Thabeet is the crap we'll be stuck with.

Compared to what Nene seems to be making soon, or what Chandler IS making that contract actually is reasonable. He is probably the best shot blocker in the league right now, a great rebounder and ok on offense. I´d prefer him with his contract over Nene at 16 million a year (they are the same age, but Nene is longer in the league and had more injuries).

For the Lakers Okafur would be ideal. Doesn`t take any shot away, plays good defense, grabs a ton of rebounds, will make the easy shots.

Good, that "younger pieces" part scared me for a second....

    Questions:

Does Okafur help the Lakers chances of getting Howard? Would the Orlando FO prefer to move Howard to New Jersey just to avoid another Shaq situation? Does this move mean that it is more likely that the David West- Jermaine O'Neal trade happens?

I don't like the Okafor part.

Part of my joy with this deal is that the Lakers had no bigs left.

But definitely the Hornets are better off without that contract on their books, so Stern did what he set out to do.

Laker fans look to be very happy about getting Okafur (from the responses on LG forums).

Would the Lakers still be as dangerous with Okafor rather than Gasol?

My joy is going to be the inevitable failure The Lakers will try putting Okafor and Bynum on the floor at the same time!

Why don't the Rockets take Okafor? You'd think they'd be interested if they are out of the Nene sweepstakes. It must mean they're still in it.

So wait, the whole starting lineup of the Lakers would have bad knees...

Can someone say they used to be good, but they took....
