If the lakers indeed do this.. taking back the more money to make stern happy. I can't see them being as good. Think about it. You just lost Gasol, Odom, Shannon Brown, and who ever else they trade... picks too. For Paul, and Okafor.

No Money to spend and i say Kobe gets upset 20 games through the season.

Kevin Martin is replaceable. He was traded here for a reason and he is about due for another injury. Injury prone and frankly last year we were just lucky with him. Good trade.

EXACTLY. Morey is a master at finding undervalued players. There is no such thing as a guy that is 7'-0" tall and undervalued. Therefore, Morey is executing the plan he has spoken about since the day he started working for the Rockets.... which is to package multiple players to sign an all-star. Once we get that piece, he can dig up whatever he needs to fill the roster out with solid guys.

No.. I completely understand this. What I'm saying is Marc may be under the impression that they won't match, so he signs an offer sheet with us... and then they do match.

You never know, but my guess is that this deal would put the Lakers on a several year rebuilding trajectory. If they win another one, it will be after Kobe retires.

This. Not so much that he looks smart but that he accomplishes the objective that an owner trying to sell his team would be trying to accomplish.

Also, don't think for a second that this wasn't, in large part, about keeping the Lakers paying luxury tax that then gets redistributed to smaller market teams. THAT was Dan Gilbert's biggest complaint in his email to Stern.

If LA is taking on Okafor and staying in luxury tax Hades, then I bet the league signs off on this deal.
