Let's not protest against anything when nobody knows the deal yet. I don't think DM will go for Gasol if it means giving up Martin, Scola and PP. That's just too high a price to get a 31 year old center.

    A. WE WOULD NOT BE OLDER.
    Pau is younger than Scola
Nene is 150 days older than Martin

    B. Not a contender, IMPROVED ASSETS...
    Not one trade, but MANY!!!

You REALLY don't know what it is until you do it. But you do know what you have. It's called taking chances.

Something should have been announced by now. There's only so many ways that the deal can be tweaked.

    i think it is the other players in the deal . . . dragon. . . . lee . . . ppat. . . draft pick . . . as a whole, the average age increases with this deal.

Agreed, that's way too high. If he does that, I'd be both extremely angry and extremely shocked.

Guessing it's still a couple hours away. Woj said they were reconvening this morning to finalize things, and it's only 8:20 on the West Coast.

Its not over the hill, but it also means you've locked yourself into a 3 year window. Kinda' hard to do anything in that window when you've traded away all your promising players...again though nobody knows the details yet, or even if the trade will push through at all.

it's not...but adding a 31 year old as a central piece seems to be somewhat at odds with a franchise that claims to be "rebuilding." even if they're talking about trying to be somewhat competitive while rebuilding. i realize that's not an inarguable position...but it, to me at least, gives the appearance that we're throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks; and i'd prefer that not be the approach of my favorite NBA franchise. and yes, i know morey is smarter than i am and farts flowers and has 20 more moves to make after this one before we finally start assembling what we'd call, "our team" because Drayton has taken over the Rockets in clever disguise.

Just a basic question, when was the last time the lakers didn't win titles after a big trade? Doing a trade like this assures the rockets won't ever beat the lakers in the next 5 yrs. The lakers know when to turn an older player into a young better player. They turned norm nixon into byron scott. They turned vlade divac into kobe and shaq. If the rockets do this, they will turn gasol into paul and howard. Do you really want to kill ur chances for 5 yrs?

The part of this I still don't get is giving Nene a fat ass contract. Unless Morey thinks he is easily moveable later on, which I have my doubts when he has a large contract and his play doesn't equal that.

I agree. And we would probably go from 24th or so in defense to somewhere in the top 5. And D wins championships.

I am hoping it's Morey not wanting to give up any more players.

Well I'm hoping he keeps Martin on the team. That really is the only way I see this trade vaulting us into contention, esp. since Nene becoming a package deal is just rumors. We trade everything for Gasol and Nene doesn't tag along. What then? We have Gasol, Lowry and basically no one else.

It only does when you have a super star to get the crunch time baskets.

Otherwise neither side can score and the other team's superstar will bring home the bacon.

I just hope morey is smart and don't get robbed. and we be left with nothing but 1 player that's playing good but isn't winning any games.

"The deal will not be completed, however, until Lakers owner Jerry Buss recuperates further from the blood clots that required him to be hospitalized earlier in the week. Buss is expected to be released from a hospital in the next couple of days."
