If Nene had an agreement with the Rockets(he shares agent with Lee/Martin) hinged upon Gasol trade, and now he signs with the Nets because of Stern's hold up, then Stern would've truly screwed the Rockets in a way I can't even dream of.

Dwight Howard will be through trade. They can always add in salary filers to make it match. The new CBA make salary matching a lot easier than the old rules.

You might be right, but you have to take into account the efficiency of the player he is guarding.

The plan was getting Pau to have a shot at adding Nene too. I don't know why people are acting like it was all about Pau. They were taking some risks to hopefully improve. They know what they had.

They reached the finals.....more than a Pau lead team is going to achieve.

Also, we have to be thinking about winning now because Pau doesn't have much left. I'm with you. This just doesn't seem right. I really think they are talking about giving both Lee and Patterson. Sickening.

Interesting. Would Nene go to a Deronless/Dwightless team?

All players pay tax on the games they play in the states that do have income tax. All players don't pay tax for the games when playing in a tax free state.

There was good write up about it on a Grizzlies fan site sometime ago. From memory the advantage was marginal.

For the money being thrown at Nene, couldn't we get M. Gasol? It was reported in earlier threads that they wouldn't block him if he wanted out.

Guess this deal we be announced soon, since I've got to walk 2 blocks over to see the Division I Quarter Finals. Go without sleep for two nights hoping for news, so with my luck, it will all come down while I'm away. Hope this doesn't last until Monday.

I can't believe the Nets are throwing $70M at Nene.

We might as well go for Dwight. What's the difference?

If Dwight doesn't want to re-sign with us at least Morey will have a hell of a trading chip..

    this is just too crazy.

Good point. Lopez and Nene and draft picks would probably put them in the running for Howard. But I think getting Howard is still a crap shoot.

which should be a huge relief if signing him meant matching 4 years at $70 million.

It could be a sign and trade to the Magic as well. Orlando could view Nene as a bandaid to losing Dwight.

    Listen to DD.

I don't know why so many people think giving up Martin, Scola and a promising young for Gasol and Nene will make us a contender. It's a lateral move and get us older. Not to mention the monstrous contract we are going to give Nene.

Nene has been whining about the money from the Nuggets since the end of last season.

It worked out pretty well. I'm sure we (and almost any other city) would take that kind of season in a heartbeat. :)

Prokhorov is probably used to the way things are done in Russia, where greasing the right palms allows you to flout the rules.

He might be right in this case, the league may look the other way, but he also might be screwed.
