Gasol isnt even a true center . hes a huge powerfoward that likes to shoot close-midrange which is what we would need him to be on the rockets with nene, like he did on the lakers
Yeah, if you end up with both KMart and Pau (assuming he doesn't pout), then I have a whole different take on this trade. People really overlook what KMart did last season, (of course, in a really slick offensive system which will slowly or quickly disappear now.)
1. You're crazy if you think Pau was more valuable to those teams than Kobe. Nuts. Sorry. I'm sure you're a sweet guy and a champion of industry. But that's just nuts. 2. No, I can't. I'm not privy to who is available and clutchfans tells me NO one will ever want to play in Houston, Texas. Sooooo...I'll defer to morey who says it's easier to lose and find that guy in the draft.
Which proves it can be done. Regardless, I don't see how this trade decreases our chances of finding a superstar. If anything it INCREASES them. What young superstar players are we trading away? We will still likely have Morris/Patsquatch/Donuts/Squid... I just don't see how not making this deal helps our chances in any way down the line. You want to talk about the failings of Gasol and Nene, HELL let us talk about Kevin freaking fairy Martin and Luis blow by Scola and their massive contracts of perpetual mediocrity and age... At the end of the day 30 million for Pau Gasol and Nene>20 million for Kevin Martin and Luis Scola... Pau is younger than Luis Scola. Nene is 150 days older than Kevin Martin. We stayed the exact same age, and got far better "assets", If the deal goes through as proposed. I don't get all the hate. Not only that, but we gave CP3 to the slowest team in the NBA. Kobe and Ron don't run the wings. Bynum will have injuries. And Neither Paul nor Kobe can play properly off the ball in a halfcourt set, which will not be the triangle. That is far from unsettling as a Rocket fan.
Of course Gasol isn't Duncan or Dirk. You can't deny that Duncan's legacy was formed in large part by winning those championships though.
In today's NBA, does that even matter? The Lakers won the championship with Gasol playing center. With Chandler going East, and hopefully Nene signs with us, there's not a single center that can abuse Gasol.
Giving a player the caliber of CP3 to the Lakers for the next 7 years or so should concern you...but it won't because you want this to happen. Pretending they will stand pat around him (particuarly when they're getting cap space) for the next 7 years is just silly. My problem with the deal is that this is it. Pau Gasol is the end product of the whole "acquiring assets" phase...and it's not good enough. We're still left without the most important and most costly piece.
your entire position in this thread centers around me. you're obsessed. anytime i mention DM, you come running. i don't know that i've ever put anyone on ignore, and i wouldn't want to ignore you in other forums where i think you have interesting things to say...but holy crap, it's enough already.
I love having a big front line I kust dont get what we are going to do for SG with LEE and Martin gone has another trade beeen rumored for a sg?
Hard to ignore your posts when you repeat the same drivel like 5 times within 10 minutes. Someone actually said in a rep comment to me "MadMax has become a troll". I wouldn't go that far, but you need to look in the mirror, buddy. Who Posted? Total Posts: 5,061 Username Posts ascaptjack 209 MadMax 151 W22_STREAK 145 Pot. Kettle. Black.
It doesn't matter. We have upgraded our accumulated assets. You could make the argument that this is just a phase of accumulating assets. Pau & Nene>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Martin & Scola End of story... We aren't trying for world domination in one trade. Daryl needed to condense the roster so he could start the collection process all over again. For his time, we might have arguably the best 4-5 in the entire league.
I don't think asset building is over with Pau. If we end up with him (still a big if if you ask me), I'm thinking he's an asset too. Pau trade next year to a contender could net substantial dog (alpha, beta, etc).
