Houston is NOT a small market. We are top ten and climbing yearly due to growth here. Come on people.
Just a reminder, Hakeem Olajuwon hit his prime at 31-32... I don't think age is an issue for either of these players for the next 3-5 years.
As far as superstars are concerned, as far as LA and New York are concerned, we are a "smaller market" team.
I think the opinion here is overwhelmingly in favour of the trade for Gasol. As Drake puts it:"if you haven't been part of it then at least you got to witness"
http://wagesofwins.com/2011/11/02/what-if-we-just-paid-players-what-they-were-worth/ What if we just paid players what they were worth? Rank | Player | Team | Pos | Games | WP | Pay($ in millions) 7 | Pau Gasol | LA Lakers | C | 82 | 16.3 | $28.8 33 | Nene Hilario | Denver | C | 75 | 9.5 | $16.8
Overwhelming? There are like eight people posting. Wait for all the disgruntled to wake up. And I'm gonna say it again. There is no trade for Gasol until there is some more credible reporting.
who cares if we are a massive market or tiny market. out of bosh amare lebron wade bryant joe johnson dwight howard chris paul carlos boozer who gave morey a bone to chew?
You go from shortest center in the league to 2 of the top 5 pf/c in the league. We finally get a great frontline.
It's no surprise to me that I'm going to say this because I have the utmost respect for him as a poster, but I am pretty much 100% in agreement with Max here. I love Morey as the GM. (I differ from Max here) I think he is one of if not the smartest GM in the league. I've learned to defer to him on player evaluations because he is right most of the time. That said, I'm afraid that if this deal happens with the Rockets throwing in more young players + picks + two borderline allstars...I'm afraid Morey might be so stung over the veto and his lack of stars that he would sacrifice almost anything. I'm not excited about Nene at $15 million and I'm not excited about being the team that gives up all the young players, picks and salary cap space to allow the Lakers to get Chris Paul.
Mo Taylor would be a perennial All star in this era. Who are the other big men? DH, Bogut, Gasol, Bynum...who else is there?
