WTF? If they just rework the same deal and we still end up giving Kmart the young guys better be Thabeet, JHill or Twilliams...

It is no secret that Morey is on the cutting edge of advanced statistics in NBA basketball.
We are in unknown territory with Daryl, but I do know that he has done an amazing job so far.

Very condescending and smug post. There are several, several reasons to LOVE this deal. And Morey isn't one of them, his past success is just a bonus.

Exactly, Nene has a ridiculous offer on the table for 24 hours after a day in this free agent/trade frenzy... screams that he's holding out, and waiting to see what happens in this deal & others. If not he would have agreed in a matter of minutes.

If this were CD..and he were planning to offer Nene $15 million/year -- which is essentially Lebron James money -- you guys would be crapping bricks. This is completely and utterly batcrap crazy at this point.

If the Rockets add Patterson or Lee to a deal to get Gasol I will be very upset, barring the possibility that a trade for Dwight Howard is the next move. (Unlikely lol)

right...if you haven't signed in 20 hours, then Clutchfans rules say the outcome has to favor the Rockets.

hey, Albert Pujols was offered a wacky deal by the Cards...he took 48 hours to consider it.

This isn't really any different than what we knew around lunch yesterday. "three teams still working on deal"

Someone needs to tweet that the sky is falling.

Not true that its the same deal or even close. Stern's quam with the original deal is that the Hornets were taking back too much salary, the Lakers were shedding too much salary, and the Hornets didnt get back enough young talent. More than likely one of Scola or Martin would remain a Rocket or go to the Lakers Im assuming, and someone one or more of Patterson, Bud, Lee would be shipped out in stead.

Great point. As a smaller market team, we need to build a championship within our own parameters, and without tanking.

it's a different offer. nothing changes in terms of what we get back...but it has us giving up even more. we need to change the poll to reflect that we'd be giving up Clutch the Bear as well.

Any news during the last 10 hours? This whole trade is seriously blocking my social life - can`t they just get it over somehow?

Guys.... Let's give Morey a chance to pull this trade together.

I do hope they get to keep Lee. I think it's important to have Lowry and Lee starting in this line up. I'm not sold at having Bud at the SF position.

This is a pipe dream idea, but how awesome would it be for Morey to land Iggy as well. This would be a team from hell to score on against. Lee and Iggy playing D would relieve pressure on the front court.

I still dont get it. Of course it is a different offer. The first one was rejected. The NBA isn't just going to 180 and look even more dumb than they already look and approve the same deal. Our offers have changed. I'm sure the other teams offers have changed too. Give it some time before you guys get your pants dirty.

The current news this morning is that LA and NO are working out the tweaks and the Rockets package remains largely the same.

Sometimes not making the deal is the right decision, meh. I'm not a genius, and I'm not privy to other information about other deals that are possible. But overpaying and taking on bad contracts is exactly what you guys told me DM does NOT do. Nene at $15 million/year is a bad contract...sorry...it is.

And when did Houston become such a wasteland. We used to have no problem attracting big names to play here. Hell, half of them live here during the offseason. Houston isn't the problem.

And get the eff out of here with the "go root for someone else" crap. I've been a Rockets fan for longer than you've been alive, most likely. I'm not going anywhere. But being a fan doesn't mean I have to agree with everything management does.

Not saying thats true at all, but Nene had to have known an offer was coming from the Nets for days or weeks even. I DO NOT think the Rockets offer is the only reason. It also seems to me that the Dwight Howard situation would be another reason why is holding out.

I could be wrong, but I think you supremely underrate Nene. His postgame, his defensive rotations, his basketball IQ, everything.

15 million for a top 5 center is a bargain.

We could be getting a top 5 PF, and a top 5 C, for a top 5 worst defender at SG, and a top 5 worst defender at PF...

That's what I read around midnight...apparently Mannix is suggesting something else.

This is why during the whole lockout my biggest hope was for no max salary under a hard cap(or similar flex cap). Because I knew something like this was going to happen. With a max salary, players will maximize their exposure, advertising dollars, etc. by going for the glamor. Leaving teams like us out of the loop.

I thought at least without the max, Morey may do something like giving Dwight Howard $25 mil a year and surround him with cheap role players. But with everyone offering the same, no way the DH12s, CP3s, choose the Rockets. So we gotta make do with what we can. That's why I'm happy with a team that can get a 3rd or a 4th seed. Where we can be one major break away from going to the finals.
