It seems to me like Lowry is the only player on the roster that is close to untouchable in this deal. If the Rockets pull the trigor and sign Nene, they are in Win-Now mode, and keeping Lowry will be incredibly huge if they want a shot at a deep playoff run. In sincerely doubt that Lowry is on the table in these talks unless a 4th team joins in and has a major upgrade at PG.

Hornets are more then likely as Dragic to replace paul. People need to remember dragon had 3 triple doubles last season when he started and some other fantastic games. He is a starting calibare player.

McHale also loves Flynn so he probaly thinks he can eek out some results out of him as the backup PG.

Freaking Lebron James makes $16 million/year. Nene is being offered $15 million/year by the Nets. Assuming he turns down $12 million to join the Rockets, he's still overpaid. This is a guy whose career averages are 12/7.

Why do I feel like half of the people posting are living in some alternate universe? The trade didn't go through cause the NBA owns the hornets. Period. Those are your basketball reasons. And the current deal? Untill I hear from more than ken b, there is no current deal.

MadMax, if DM adds other assets to make it happen I'm pretty sure we'd be keeping KM in the deal. Houston adding other assets on top of this doesn't really mix well, the league vetoed the deal because the Lakers weren't giving up anything, how does us adding additional stuff make the push through this time?

If they rework this deal, I think LA will have to take back some salary or give away picks, which would result in us being able to retain KMart. I really hope this is the case, getting Gasol+capspace doesn't justify trading away Patterson, who has legit all star potential.

Also, I have a hard time believing Nene isnt waiting on the Rockets here. There are no other reasons why he would wait this long to re-sing with the Nuggets or sign with the Nets.

Nene and his agent have to realize that if he signs with the Nets, he might as well be signing with Orlando, cause thats where he's going to end up in a D12 trade.

Coming to Houston, IF the Pau deal gets done, should be priority #1 for Nene.

    *Knock on freakin wood

    Morey plays moneyball.

Nene's standard boxscore is as important as piss and ****. We have no idea what metrics he uses, except that they are extremely cutting edge for a basketball oranization. We took that gamble when we brought him in. If Morey thinks he is worth 12-15 million, I would be hard pressed to disagree...

You're right...I'm not seeing any confirmation of us adding anything at this point...in fact, I saw exactly the opposite tweeted around midnight...that if anyone was tweaking, it was the Lakers and Hornets; not the Rockets.

Initially, I thought Lowry would be the one that the Hornet's would really want, so it wouldn't surprise me too much.

However, it seems from the rumors that Morey has no intention of moving him.

...and, yes, I'm feeling a little bat**** crazy waking up at 6:30 am on a Saturday to check for updates on this. Oh well, it's just part of being a clutchfan I guess.

Not true. NOLA is way under the cap. They only have 26 million committed without Paul.

This is what I'm talking about with respect to Morey. The God complex you guys have assigned him is astounding. We can't even consider thinking for ourselves because if Morey wants it, it must be great for the Rockets.

    please Morey...walk away.

Why would you help the Lakers reload for another dynasty with the pieces you've been building for the Rockets to reload??? These are Laker scraps your getting as they reload. Lakers WANT to get rid of Pau AND Odom and you're taking 1/2 the scraps for 80% of the price of Paul. The Lakers have a plan. And even if our plan includes Nene, I doubt we can compete in a 7 game series against the Lakers, Mavs, Heat, Celtics, Bulls. So what's the point????

The offer to Nene was reported less than 24 hours ago.

Rember back in the good ole days when you had to wait on the print article or news report to find out what the trade looks like? Patience is a virtue.

Here are Mannix's tweets around midnight if anyone missed them:

    ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
Rival executives expecting three-team deal to get worked out to meet NBA approval. "They are going to get there," texted a GM

    ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
Sources say Rockets are likely to put one or two young players into the deal. Unclear which ones, but HOU willing to make moves.

    ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
Rockets still hopeful to cut this deal and get back in Nene hunt. Need deal to clear cap space to offer $15 mill/per, which NJ is offering.

If I can see one link supporting that, I'll reconsider. Giving away your team's leading scorer and team's leading rebounder...and then continuing to pile one piece on top of another to get a guy who is 31 years old and has already failed at being Batman sucks. I'm not saying I'd never want Pau...I'm saying there has to be some rationality with respect to the price you pay for that.

If you're such a genius why don't you convince Lebron or Dwight Howard or CP3 to sign with the Rockets for that money? Yeah, no kidding Nene will be overpaid compared to Lebron. Unless you can convince me that the Rockets will end up signing Dwight Howard/CP3/DWill with that same money in 2012, I'll take a guy who at least will take our money.

Or you could stop being a Rockets fan and go to NY or LA or Miami. There, you'll find superstars willing to sign for $16-17 mil(whatever the max is). As long as you root for an NBA team in Houston, you won't get bargains.
