Deal would be Lee or Patterson. Not Lee and Patterson. Let's say Morey was wasted drunk and ended up giving all of those... Gasol for Scola and Martin (i would do it). Patterson and Lee for Nene (in a heartbeat). Dragic i can sacrifice since flynn would be a solid backup for Lowry. But then again in reality, we won't have to give up all of those to acquire a beast of a frontline in Gasol and Nene. How many teams could actually be given a chance to get both?
The main reason why Morey is pushing hard for Gasol is that Nene is pretty much in the package deal. Remember how Mchale was seen at the Denver airport (we have a picture of it in one of our threads). Should be obvious to everyone by now that this was the plan all along. Even non Rockets fans have already pretty much resigned to it.
Considering DeAndre ferckin' "Dan Gadzuric" Jordan is getting 50 million guaranteed, a select few true talents on here are complaining about Nene. How many C's are better than Nene? Howard, Yao, uh... Nene is a freckin' bargain at that price. C Yahoo Sports: "Chandler was an important contributor during the Mavericks’ run to last season’s NBA championship, averaging 10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 74 games. " Nene averages on a distracted Carmelo-shadowed Denver team: field goal perc: 0.615 rebounds per game:7.6 assists per game:2.0 blocks:1.1 steals:1.0 POINTS PER GAME: A JUICY 14.5 name me how many centres average over 15 ppg. I think we have Nene pretty much locked up if the Gasol trades proceeds as proposed.
I really don't like how acquiring Nene through free agency is being used to justify overpaying for Gasol.
The biggest thing missed on Nene is his ability to guard the pick and roll, where he is well known for being one of the best in the league. He also has great hands, and an underrated mid-range jumper. Not to mention he is one of the best finishers in basketball and can really pass. Can Pau Gasol make a Dirk like transformation? Dirk was EXACTLY like Pau only a couple years ago. Soft, and many didn't think he was good enough to be the centerpiece of a championship team. He evolved that mentality at a later age. Pau has the opportunity and the talent to do the same. Lowry & Nene are way better pieces than he EVER had in Memphis, an 8th seed team. Can Morey snag a few more?
Remember how Morey said this has sent us back 3 years when the trade was blocked? When Tmac and Yao were beginning to break down, the plan was to gather all the assets for future deals. A deal such as a Legit All star Center becomes available then he will have the tools to make a run at him. Now that it has become a reality, he will do anything to grab it. If it means overpaying a bit, you have to do it. That's the main reason why we've collected all these good/solid non all stars & young players. If he makes Lee or Patterson a deal breaker and we do not get Gasol nor Nene (no cap space). Then what do you suggest we do? Let me guess... Trade all our solid veterans for young prospects and TANK right? I'd rather have a frontline of and than a mediocre 9th seed team led by a frontline of Jordan Hill and Thabeet.
Also throw in our entire 2009 draft bust collection (four players), plus $3 million as a kicker, and the deal works. Then we keep Martin and can add Nene.
PipeDream. Our dream scenario. Honestly bro, would you bet on the Hornets choosing your collection of 09 draft busts instead of Kevin Martin?
Acquiring Pau and having $16mil in cap space then who knows, you might even be looking at this all of a sudden...
No, they would take Lee/Dragic/Patterson/Scola. THE LAKERS would take two of our 2009 draft busts. (And it all works...) The question is, would NO go for it? Lee/Patterson instead of Martin?
Now NO and the league accept the singn and trade David West for Jermaine O'Neal and Sasha Pavlovic. Why need NO this trash with 9 million salariers? Better led West go for nothing. And The league dont want our veterans?
There is no doubt this trade will get going again especially seeing that Odom is not practicing and sorta distancing himself from the Lakers. And Gasol showing up at practice then leaving, according to the Lakers, a strained quadriceps which is bs. Kevin Martin's expression, this is a slam dunk trade with, or without altering. I just hope Gasol still has All-Stars apps left because I think in his mind, it is a downgrade especially playing with Kobe. I don't like the trade because of too many bodies involved, but no matter what happens, I will always bleed red for Houston Rockets.
As someone posted, when you're this close to Gasol/Nene, you do it. There is a glut of good PFs in the NBA. Lee is a good two-way player but a little undersized. DM has been trying to swing for the fences a couple of years now and had been always frustrated. Do it! Maybe other FAs would be attracted to come because of the big names.
