I am not for tanking. I just think that giving up so much for Gasol and possibly Nene is only going to get us marginally better and little potential to grow. You either go for broke to acquire a fanchise player whom you can build around, or you go the patient route and hope your promising young guys blossom. Do you really think that a team of Nene, Gasol, and perhaps Iggy will be "likely to win a championship"? I'd say they are likely no more than second round fodder. And like I said, these players have already peaked. They aren't going to get any better. It's likely that the window for their primes is closing fast. Giving up Scola and Martin for Gasol is a lateral move at best. If they throw in a young prospect too, that'll be too much.
all i see is rockets giving more in this trade without gatting anyting else but Gasol. I want Gasol but not at the expense of all current good players and future ones.
I hate how Gasol got all the Rebs and tip ins over all our players for how many seasons. Now we have that annoying son of a b!tch in the paint. LOL But wait! There's more... along with the annoying lanky skilled spaniard, there's his brazilian monster buddy with him!!!
People still blind to the fact that having two skilled 7 footers adds a different dimension to the team we have... One that is rare for teams to have in the NBA these days. *sigh*
I have never seen a GM be this well liked and accomplish so little in any sports franchise. Ah well time will tell where this team will head after this trade goes down.
People also forget that 7 footers that are really good don't grow grow on trees. If they did Morey would have got one two years ago. They are pricey but that's because they are a luxury. All teams have 6'4 guards but do they all have 7 ft. Centers and big 6'10 PF's? We will own the paint. Not since the days of Dream could we say that.
Just to clarify, they didn't trade for BOTH Gasol and Nene. They traded for Gasol and HOPE to sign Nene. You sound like they already had Nene in their pocket.

I've got the same sentiments too. If the Rockets aren't confident of getting this monumental trade sealed and done, why the @@#% hasn't Nene signed that massive contract with the Nets yet? And that is with the Nets preferring Nene over freckin' Dwight Howard. Morey has his marbles under control.
