Yeah I don't think that'll work. 20m to gasol, 12m to kmart, then 14m to nene? Would only work if you shed both scola and kmart.
Truer words have never been spoken, but I don't think Les cares about championships as much as he cares about selling tickets, so he refuses to rebuild through the lottery. In any case, I go on record as saying we should not be part of any transaction which makes it easier for the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul.
His ideology clashes with all what the NBA is about. The essence of all is to draft the player first and build the team around him.
Yes... Those 4 would add up to 50 million... Lowry makes very little... We would have to trade most of our cheap young talent though, (Hill, Lee, Bud, Dragic) And do something with Thabeet. Maybe that's why we have such a giant training camp roster?
The only way to have enough cap room to sign Nene is if we give up both Martin and Scola. Stern said they want younger players... So the package could be Martin,Patterson,Dragic instead of Martin,Scola,Dragic. Do we get to sign Nene? No, because we won't be able to have enough cap space. In comes Dalembert. Our rotation would basically look like this... Lowry/Flynn Lee/Twill Budinger/Morris Scola/Gasol Gasol/Dalembert/Jhill
Maybe we get Odom for our efforts in adding in a young player? LA sends their picks to NO instead. Still have enough room to sign Nene?
I just can't believe Morey is giving up on Patterson or Lee; if you give up Lee, you're starting Terrence Williams, and if you're giving up Patterson, you're starting Jordan Hill. Why does "adjusting the deal" mean that the Rockets give up an extra piece, and the Lakers get MORE back? Just doesn't make any sense to me.
This mikeradiocom guy is obviously not the best source but... he did have info on Pujols before it happened: https://twitter.com/#!/MikedupRadiocom/status/144671205507608576 and was the first to report Marcus Banks (yea wow big deal) was at Lakers facility: https://twitter.com/#!/MikedupRadiocom/status/144130820741922816
I don't think that is true. In the first reported deal the Rockets gained about 4 million in space. Which would have been around 11 total, NOT counting the inevitable Thabeet amnesty of 5 million. If you got rid of Scola/Terrence/Dragic/Hill/Flynn/Lee, You would have the exact amount of capspace... 11 million, NOT counting a Thabeet amnesty...
Nightmare scenario we all are dreading would be giving up Martin/Scola/Dragic + Lee or Patterson. If i had to choose 1, i'd give up Patterson instead of Lee since i don't want T-will starting at SG. Lowry Lee Budinger Gasol/Nene Nene/Gasol Jhill and Morris could also play mins at the 4. If we give up Lee with Martin/Scola/Dragic... Lowry Twill/probably why we signed Jermain Taylor Budinger Gasol/Nene/Patterson Nene/Gasol
Yes, but like knote said you'd have to trade half of the team. For example instead of Martin you'd have to trade Lee, T-Will, Hill & Flynn. I'd probably do it personally, but I'm not sure that makes the package for the Hornets any better though. You'd also have no salary fillers left to trade for a big contract like Iguodala without giving up one of Lowry, Martin, Gasol or Nene.
I think it looks like this tomorrow. Lakers receive : Paul, Okafor , Jack Hornets receive: Odom, Scola, Patterson, Lee, Dragic and NYK pick Rockets receive: Gasol, 2 1st rounders from LA. also Jermaine O'Neal will be released and sign to LAL. I think this is well rounded and fair and that all three teams benefit. Lowry/ Flynn Martin/ Taylor Williams/ Bud Gasol/ Hill Nene/ ....
That could work, but you would have to find a way to get rid of Martin+Scola+Dragic+Hill+Flynn+Lee To create that much room... (You could sub Terrence or Patterson in the trade...)
I think that is fair. Martin's contract really kills the Hornets flexibility, but it helps us in win now mode...
Saturday, a new era for the Rockets Sunday, the Texans might win their division Too much stress in my old age.
That's a bit of a stretch don't you think? We'd be lucky if NO would be even interested in one of these 3 (Twill,Hill,Flynn). That's a pipedream offer of Clutchfans desperate to keep Martin.
Think it goes through today with us giving up a few more promising youngsters for a few aging veterans that don't bring us near a ring.
