Care to set historical precedent that may lead you to think this way? Keep in mind that 1. Gasol doesn't hate Houston, he doesn't to leave the Lakers(i.e. Rockets trading him to Milwaukee doesn't make him happier) 2. He has 3 years left on his deal If you can tell me of the various NBA players who pouted themselves out of similar circumstances, then I'll worry alongside you.
I still find it hard to believe it takes Scola and Martin to get Pau Gasol. I think Scola by himself and maybe some youth like Budinger, Dragic, and Donatus Montajunas would be enough.
I agree with cuddie i think Gasol will ask out or not report, I think if Marc comes over its different i think they would like to be together those two. Something Tells me there is more to this then we are all seeing. Look the league vetoed this when a team they own was going to get good value back, and the lakers apparently had a plan to get Dwight too. Now all of a sudden the talks are back on for pretty much the same trade plus other pieces... makes you think that the Lakers and the Rockets have something else up there sleeves if they have to go through this all over again. I think the lakers have a move that they have ready to get Howard but want to get Paul first, and Morey has gotta have something ready to cause why go after Pau with him pretty much saying I dont want to be in Houston... So there is got to be more to this then meets the eye and everyone is holding their cards to theirs chest. What do you all think?
People keep saying this but there has been nothing so far that has said Pau doesn't want to be in Houston. Pau has said he doesn't want to leave the Lakers. There is a difference.
Although I like Martin and Scola, neither one these guys a great defenders anywhere. Our new coach seems to be about defense, and Gasol will helps add some length to our front court. I like this trade (except for the 1st round pick).
Yeah I understand that but that does pretty much mean he doesn't want to play for us. Even if hypothetically he was traded to any other team he wouldnt want to go there. I think if we did somehow get Marc he wouldn't mind at all leaving LA. I think though if this does go down, he will stay with us and not make much noise he seems like a very professional guy but i could be wrong.
He's a professional basketball player. He'll do his job wherever he ends up. Once he is traded and realizes that the Lakers don't want him anymore, he'll get over it and start over with a different franchise. Even better if we can sign Nene and field a competitive team.
that was my next response.. If this does indeed set up Nene signing here then it is actually Scola+Martin = Nene+Gasol
Yeah well I would be a fan of that Nene and Pau frontcourt, and with there no tampering charges against the nets it looks like they would most likely offer that trade of Brooks and 2 1st rounders to orlando again, unless LA or Dallas have something much better but I don't see anything they have to offer. FYI just heard on sportscenter the Ric Bucher dosent see this trade working unless its a trade which just has Pau and Odom going to NO for Chris Paul.
It could even be.. Scola + Martin = Gasol 2x Would be cool to have their first names (Pau/Marc) on the back of their Houston jerseys just like when they play for Spain.
