We are not giving up anything that is irreplacable. Scola is a good player, but Patterson and Morris need minutes and the 2012 draft is full of forwards. Martin is a good player as well, but shooting guards are not that hard to replace and Martin does not defend at all.

We are getting rid of two very poor defenders and get a player that is arguably the best center/pf in the western conference.

Wasn't there something about how Billups would just retire if he ended up somewhere he didn't wanna be? I doubt he'd want to play here.

Is Orlando considered a small market because Mark Cuban was one of the vocal leaders against the Paul deal. His main reason against it was he didn't like superstars from small market teams dictating their way to a larger market. I guess his tune changes when the Mavs are the ones getting a superstar

No, we'd have cap space (once we amnesty Thabeet) to sign Nene to the same (ridiculous-ass) contract.

And, if Bima is right, we better hold onto Morris and Patterson. I'd reluctantly yield Bud. Wish we could flush Terrence Williams, but not holding my breath.

EDIT: Forgot Jordan Hill. He could go. I could only wish we hold onto Morris, Patterson, Bud.

Wow, I was still thinking in terms of Chuck Hayes (I love you chuck! homo) and Luis Scola (I love you too. still homo)

You're right; I wasn't looking at the big picture.

HayesFan would freak out losing both Patterson and Hayes.

LA already won their championships with Bynum and Gasol...

Now they are trying to make Paul, Kobe, and Dwight happen.

Well then he'd just decline coming here I believe. He was amnestied today.

If we're willing to spend that much at Nene, let's offer Marc Gasol that contract as well and ask Pau to help us out at the same time. Would love to see Gasol-Gasol frontline.

With the Nets recently upping their offer, it may take almost every dollar of cap room to get Nene. It probably won't leave enough room to make a successful bid on a top amnestied player.

Good news is, the Rockets could have more cap room again in 2012, depending on Nene's final cap figures.

EDIT: if another player is included in the trade without taking back more salary, and assuming that Thabeet is amnestied, then I suppose you could make a legit bid on Billups. Still, probably not enough to win the bidding.

We better hope that Dwight gets swayed by the Russian and Signs with the Nets.

Him and Deron would be beast.

it's so scary if we're giving up lee and patpat on the revised trade..I wonder how stinky our defense would be.

Bima, do you think Nene is worth that?

Could we sign a guy like Josh Howard for the MLE or the mini-MLE?

He reportedly wanted to go wherever Nene wound up.

How much better is West than Scola though?

I understand Paul is their franchise cornerstone which, thus, makes this trade carry great importance. But how much is he worth if he's just gonna leave this season? Ah..I guess I have my homer goggles on :(

Guys, Gasol averaged 18pts and 9reb last year. And his defense is suspect.
See the playoffs for reference. He's a good player and all but damn is he
    getting over-hyped.
