If Morey gives up a "top" young prospect (Lee, Budinger, Patterson, Morris or Motiejunas) in this deal, then you HAVE to think he's got Nene locked up with a massive contract. No way Morey gives all that up and then loses out on Nene.

So think of all this as a trade for Gasol and Nene as a package deal. (Kind of like when the Barkley trade enabled the Rockets to sign Kevin Willis)

Gasol and Nene could be in the top 3 of their respective positions, for the next 3-5 years.

This really makes no sense. All this speculation is gonna kill me.

Why don't all the so called "insiders" STFU and wait until a deal is COMPLETED.

I'm okay with losing Courtney Lee, but Patterson! ...man I hope not.

Must be a 4th team in involved if Patterson and/or Lee are being considered. No way you send out Martin, Lee, Scola, and Patterson without getting another big name.

Where are the lakers on this? Shouldn't they have to give up more? I feel like it's just us and NO who want this deal done..

On the other hand if we do keep Martin.

    Lowry/ Flynn
    Martin / Taylor/
    Twill / Bud/ Morris
    Gasol/ Hill
    FA (NENE) / Thabeet

We might lose some youth but that is a championship quality team.

31 for a bigman is not old, especially a spry guy like Gasol...

Nene is 29, both have nice chunks of their primes left

i have a feeling mini might get involved.

They want to shed one of their forwards maybe two.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cbtqy7q

    Houston get:
    Gasol/Milicic

    NO gets
    Beasley/W.Johnson/Odom/plus mulitple picks +Fillers

    LA gets
    Paul

    Mini gets
    Scola/Martin

it works on the trade machine but not sure if it does in real life

All rumors so far. Hate to give up Patterson, but it depends on the whole package of transactions. Wait and see.

Lakers have nothing to offer. Odom and Gasol. Houston doing the 'dirty' work for LA.

I hope Martin is gone in this deal. I do not want after the new rules. He will be much less effective.

David Aldridge wrote that the Lakers might send us a pick or two.

if we're giving up patterson, we ain't giving up martin. if they really want, we can even chuck in al harrington 2.0 aka marcus morris. martin is level with kobe in scoring efficiency, so to give up patterson and morris and keep him would be extremely morey-like.
