If you can get Pau Gasol and Nene Hilario for any combination that doesn't give up Kyle Lowry, you do it, imo. The fact that we are probably keeping our two best young players, Patterson & Morris, is also a huge bonus.
For all those saying they want to keep Martin here, don't we have to move him to get cap room? That's the only way we'll have room to sign Nene isn't it? I'm kinda confused about this whole situation... I love martin but it's clear we're not going anywhere with him. Trying to be as unbiased here as possible, but to all those who think we can keep martin, it doesn't really seem fair to give up just Scola and some youngsters and receive a top 3 C, 4 time all star back in Gasol. Now don't get me wrong but I love scola and Martin. In fact, I don't think this trade is worth it especially if we have to give up 2 more youngsters unless we know for sure we can have the Gasol, Nene duo which would be devastating.
He doesn't have an opinion other than kneejerk homerism. He's everything that is wrong with today's youth. Always demanding instant satisfaction and too scared of change to see the bigger picture. Small fish in a big pond.
Well, you definitely don't trade two really good starters, (1 being your leading scorer) possibly 2 younger players to help Paul go to LA. Yeah yeah we get Gasol, but IMO the price is way to steep to get him.
Boy, that Marcus Morris draft pick is looking pretty damn good to me right now. The Rockets can give up Patterson or Budinger in this deal, and still have Marcus Morris to fill in for either of them.
And there is no way we can we can have Martin, Gaso, Nene and Lowry on this team together under the cap. Won't happen. You have to choose 3.
Well what the hell do you propose the Rockets do then? Let us have some insight into your all knowing knowledge.
You are an idiot because you dont see the big picture of what Morey is trying to do. Use your common sense. Yes we trade away Scola, Martin, and Dragic but what Morey is trying to do is clear enough cap space to sign Nene or hell even Marc Gasol because he is still out there too. We are WAY better off with Nene and Pau than me are with Scola and Martin. Its not that effing hard to understand. So before you get your panties in a wod think about the big picture. We are not going anywhere (not even the playoffs) with the team currently assembled, but we do give ourselves a better chance and making some noise in a weaker west with two 7fters.
At any rate, Woj just said Rockets side isn't changing. Hornets and Lakers have to rework their end. Martin and Scola have to go, they are integral to the plan.
Lowry, Martin, Gasol & Nene totals up to about 50 million... The cap is like 58 million right? Enough for Patterson, Marcus Morris and TWilly...
So.... what do we do? Stand pat? The lakers don't get too much better imo especially this season. Isn't bynum out the first 5 games because of suspension or something. They would have NO ONE to play the 4 or 5. They can't rely on injury prone bynum to carry the inside scoring after that anyways
Well we tank and get a nice pick in 2012..it seems like there are a couple of people here who don't mind tanking...
It's called life. It's called a gamble. Do you know how many huge gambles teams have made in the past far far bigger than ours? We aren't going anywhere now, so why not take a gamble?
