I loudly called for the Blazers to select KD instead of Oden because I thought Oden was likely to be a bust. I also said last summer there was a good chance Oden wouldn't play at all this season. His dates kept getting pushed back and when they said he wouldn't return until January, you could see where it was going.
The moment he collapsed (without contact) chasing AB is burned in my mind forever. I remember Brandon Roy bending over to comfort him. You could see the huge divot in Oden's kneecap until someone mercifully covered it up. It was really sad.
on top of Oden's setback, and Roy's retirement, Aldridge is out for at least two weeks because of heart arrhythmia that started at the end of last year. triple ouch.
This team looked so scary before. I mean the players that they acquired. An amazing SG, and on paper the best front court with Oden and Aldridge. That's not including the role players that they acquired like Outlaw or Fernandez that are all capable starters on another team. Absolute tragedy.
Well this isn't really fair to Oden, since when he did play he was pretty dominant. In fact, he was so dominant he actually made Roy and the sidekick version of LMA irrelevant. Considering that he was still recovering and it was just his 2nd season, I feel bad for Oden since if he didn't have health issues he probably would have been the next great center of the era, almost exactly like Yao. As far as selecting kD goes, I think its for the best. KD wouldn't be happy all alone in Portland since BR is also banged up, and this at least they can rebuild properly.
Oden will miss the new season again the guy should retire right now! I'll take the Jail Blazers over these Frail Blazers.
Damn it, I feel bad for Portland, Oden & Roy were classy players and could've won a few rings had they stayed healthy.
You are delusional (or sarcastic). If KD was drafted by Portland, he wouldn't be all alone. But no doubt it has turned out better for him in SEA/OKC.
