I'm peeved at the Stern veto too, but I don't blame Stern for this move. This was inevitable. Chuck has been great to us, but I don't think paying him $21 mil over the next 4 years is going to get us where we want to be. We need to upgrade at center, and locking in Chuck is not the way to go about it. I wish him the best!
So quick question: What are people's thoughts on Dalembert now, is that thing dead? Do we grab him to fill the hole Chuck leaves and with the Pau deal/chances of getting Nene dead at the moment?
Did he actually sign the contract or is it just a verbal agreement that he can back out of? It seems the NO-LA-HOU talks are back on and we may have some cap space to re-sign Chuck after all.
Mixed feelings for me. He's a cult favorite here and we have seen him progress his game so much in the past few years. Having said that we couldn't afford to pay him that kind of money when we don't have a true legit center and still need help in many areas. I am very happy for him but wish we could have had him locked up long time ago for little money.
How does Stern get more of the blame than Morey? Flirting with Nene and aquiring Gasol pretty much sealed the deal.
first no Battier now no Hayes.. guess we know how they plan to beat the other team.. and it's not by defense. Props to Chuck. Always love from us for battling it out all these years.
Resigning Hayes was Morey's plan but he could only do that by trading for Gasol and opening 4 million in extra cap space. He begged Hayes' agent to wait but the Stern pulled the rug from under him.
