My girlfriend will get very angry with me when I disagree with her opinion that co-ed softball players (even the girls) are superior all-around athletes to professional baseball and football players.

    I'm serious.

It looks pretty athletic and probably requires some strength and balance as well as agility. Especially when they do tumbles and pyramids and stuff. But they aren't doing that all the time...a lot of time is spent just shaking pom-poms and yelling.

Cheer leading is no joke. My girlfriend's seven year old is on a competitive team and her flexibility, explosiveness and functional strength are insane. She can crank out real pushups until I get tired of counting them and pretty much climbs things like a monkey. Her flexibility makes me cringe and her flips and cartwheels are explosive.

It's more difficult until the winter, when every hit feels like an electric shock. It requires more physical ability and agility upfront, and more thought and skill because physical violence is somewhat intuitive, but it takes a lot less out of you after the fact.

I don't disagree whatsoever with the argument that it's more dangerous, though; just like gymnastics or that equestrian stuff.

I remember someone pointing out that there is more running in badminton
    than in Tennis.

I remember thinking .. . cause it takes the d*mn thing 30 minutes to float to the ground

I love badminton. Was second in intramurals two years in row. Kept losing to a Chinese kid who had a killer drop shot and was quick as a frog's tongue. Great sport. I think it is more fun than tennis.

X1000. Mostly because I can actually play badminton, but the sport is actually a ton of fun.

    +1 for badminton.

It's not as physically taxing as tennis, but it's faster paced.

An average NFL running spends about 2 minutes per game actually on the field between snap and whistle. The rest is running clock between plays and sitting on the sidelines.

But as far as which is harder, it depends on how you define difficulty. For someone with a football player's body, cheerleading is probably more difficult. For someone with a cheerleader's body, football would be more difficult - or at least, playing it at a high level. Everyone and anyone can play football if they are willing to suck and get destroyed.
