Scola is a career Rocket (well, NBA career at least) and Martin is a relatively recent acquisition from Sacramento. Scola is like a biological child. Martin is adopted, if not foster, child that Morey took in for money. Also, it's just the personality of the two guys: Scola doesn't let things bother him, Martin is more sensitive (he took Adelman's departure pretty hard, I think, and was quoted as saying emo stuff). It's just what humans being human (which is something that Morey doesn't truly understand-- he will never be a real boy).
It's close. I Think they just give you different things. I'd rather have Marc though, I think if we just got Marc Gasol for the season I'd be a happy with that one move.
No way. Marc is a natural center with better defense and better rebounding. Nene is better on Offense, but Marc is developing a great back to the basket game. If we have Pau, a guy like Marc is better suited to play besides him. And in a couple of years we won`t even have this discussion. Nene will be one of the worst contracts in the NBA while Marc will be the second best center in the league.
I say we just use these to trade for paul striaght up. - we have a better chance of resigning him b/c we can offer more money - or we could sign and trade him to the lakers for more than just gasol
I actually do think that the dearth of quality centers in the league has made M.Gasol rather overrated in the eyes of some, but I think I'd prefer him to Nene. Younger, bigger body, blocks shots. I think his numbers have suffered a bit from playing alongside Randolph. I'd be happy with either, but at this point I'm not optimistic about getting either one.
