Hold on to Patterson. He's going to be something special. I'd feel okay parting with either of this years 1st round picks, wasn't excited about Morris when they drafted him.
Mannix: I don't think Houston is getting short end of the stick. Idea has been to get Gasol, clear cap space, and get Nene. Never been just about Gasol. They'd be getting good value if they got both of those guys. Houston is pushing hard to re-engage talks. Whether they can get this done, remains to be seen. It will be on Houston to add young talent to the mix and make it approvable to Stern and his cronies. If no Gasol, they have no cap space for Nene. This deal has a trickle down effect for Houston which is why they are pushing to get a deal done. .... I dont understand the argument for keeping Paul in New Orleans. The story everyday will be where is Chris Paul going? I believe these two sides will find a way to get a deal done that is compatible. . . . Because Houston was in Miami meeting with Dalembert, their name somehow got thrown into the mix of tampering with Howard. That has since been dismissed. . . . If they(Nets) met with Howard, they might have destroyed the future there for the next 5 years. ... Howard will go to LA or the Nets.

How about us not inlcuding Scola AND not including Martin. If we bet our future on Pau, let`s keep them both - and include PPat, Lee and CBud - and let the Lakers include Bynum. So the trade would look like this: Hou sends out: PPat, Lee, CBud, Thabeet 2012 NY first rounder and our trade exception (we still have one, don`t we?) Hou gets: Gasol LA sends out: Gasol, Bynum LA gets: Paul, Okafur NO sends out: Paul, Okafur NO gets: PPat, Lee, CBud, Thabeet, Bynum, 2012 NY first rounder We basically go all in with this trade. It`s the next 3 years or bust. But it will keep us with the following starting five: Lowry Martin Morris Scola Gasol Not too shabby. At the same time the Lakers get their future centerpiece and a nice defensive mindes PF with a bad contract. Yes, they had to give up a lot, but they get a top 5 talent in return. And NO basically gets their team of the future in PPat, Bynum, Lee and Cbud - Thabeet is an expiring contract. Deal makes sense for all teams. But LA won`t agree to that...
Martin is really mentally weak. It shows in his game in crunch time and in his personal life. Get over it! The NBA is a business!
No. Patrick Patterson and Marcus Morris are untouchable right now along with Lowry and MAYBE D-Mo. The whole point of what Morey is doing is to add assets and to give away our best assets like that is just silly. I'd be really disappointed if Morey gave up any of those guys, we really really don't know what we have with them. The NBA doesn't want the Hornets to get younger, they just want the Lakers to give up a little more and apparently get closer to the tax.
awexler Adam Wexler RT @christomasson: HOU remains S Dalembert's 1st choice but HOU, if u haven't heard, been busy w/ other players. "I'm just waiting," he said Keep waiting you bum! Sign for the min. if you wanna come here so bad.
A few thoughts: 1. I don't think Stern is asking for a "better" deal as much as he is asking for a different kind of deal. It's sort of like the "tanking vs. trying" argument people here have: when you are losing CP, do you replace him with multiple good players or do you get expriing contracts, rookie contract guys, and draft picks, expect to stink while you rebuild? Stern seems to lean toward the latter. 2. You can keep one of Scola and Martin and still clear space for Nene. There are plenty of expiring contracts and young guys to throw into a deal to make the salary math work the same as if both Martin and Scola were included. 3. It's not a bad deal with either keep Scola and put him in a 3-man frontline rotation with Nene and Pau (perhaps with Patterson behind them) or keep K.Mart and his shooting. These are guys who can help the team, so it may be worth it giving up a couple of the kids instead, even if the kids have higher ceiling. 2.
Well maybe he just really likes it here. Maybe he think he's got a better chance at a ring with the Rockets instead of Hornets. I have no problem with the different reactions as long as they keep playing hard while they're here.
The whole point of this being cancelled is the fear of another big three. Stern doesn't want Howard on the Lakers. So make the Lakers take back more contracts (Ariza, Okafor, whatever) and give up an asset (draft pick, young guy... like they have any) and make the trade happen.
How about we all STFU, quit speculating r****ded ideas that make zero sense and flooding the thread by proposing dumb ass trades?
Haha soo true right? Houston will soon be taboo in every day vocabulary from fear of being struck by the injury bug!
