Maybe Morey can use the injury as leverage against the Lakers and force them move more pieces or something?
I think so, and hope that is what will happen. But if so, it needs to be happen SOON because I won't be able to get any sleep before that!
Last season Patterson was sub 40% post up, sub 50% at rim. Wasn't fouled once in face up/open jump shot, so possibly inflated no. there.
No Nene - that also means no overpaying for Nene (which we would have to do). It also means we keep Scola who can play next to a 7 footer. And we have more cap flexibility because Scola only makes about half of what Nene is going to make. I don`t get all the Nene love. If we could`ve gotten him at a reasonable price I´d be all for it. But more than 16 million a year? No way.
I don't think we need a 4th team... Just replace either Scola or Martin with some combo of young guys: Patterson, Budinger, Morris, Lee, Motiejunas are likely the most valuable pieces. Flynn, Thabeet, TWill and Hill can be contract fillers on expiring deals. Just mix and match to find something appropriate. Patterson is one guy I want to keep, but I trust Morey not to pay more than is needed.
Gasol played all 82 games last season putting up 18/10/1.5.............. Only one time where he missed some significant time and that was in 04 when he missed 56 games.
Nene Gasol Morris/Bud Lee Lowry Man, I really want to see that starting lineup. If we can pickup a star swingman then it would be a team to reckon with.
Seems like one of Patrick Patterson/Marcus Morris is all but guaranteed to be included in the deal at this point, since clearing salary space for Nene is no longer a priority. That takes the deal from being defensible and pretty interesting (Nene/Gasol/Patterson/Hayes) to being really, really disappointing. I still can't wrap my head around why the Rockets will be increasing their offer, when the owners clearly have issues with the Lakers' side of the trade. You all might be saying "well, nothing has leaked about the improved offer". Have you seen the Lakers' roster? There are only 3 players on their roster younger than 30! If the NBA wants the Hornets to get younger, they have to do it at the Rockets expense. The Lakers can take on contracts, but the Rockets were the ones who suffered through consecutive non-playoff seasons to get the players. I'm fine with trying a twin towers and up-and-coming roster. I'm also fine with playing out the string with the team there is now. I'm certainly not fine at trading away the team's youth and starting Scola and Pau in the front-court; you've got the exact same problem with starting Martin and Brooks, only now you strip away any potential chance for internal improvement? Daryl, let the Lakers add more if they want a deal.
jadande J.A. Adande Lakers said Pau Gasol did not practice because of a quad strain.(or could it be because the trade is back on???)
I agree. I'd prefer to keep Scola, definitely Morris, and Patterson, of course. My preference would be to give them any combo they wish out of T-Will, Thabeet, Hill, Donuts, Flynn.
Who knows. We may be targeting Marc Gasol this whole time. It would entice Marc to play with his older bro. He could tell Memphis not to match.
