The money isn't much of an issue - Les will pay. Nene had been a big prize of Morey for a long time, and Morey obviously sees a lot more value in him than most Rockets fans. Plus the opportunity to have two all-star big men being coached by a hall of fame center was too good to pass up.
Ha, my dad floated this to me when I called him Simmons-style for his reaction to last night's craziness. Fun idea, but Grizz have all the cards in Marc's free agency. Since he's basically worth max to them they can't be outbid unless he makes it clear he doesn't want to be there.
You are correct but there is a difference between "Owners" stopping the deal and the "NBA Office" stopping the deal. If there is in fact conflict of interest, then the owners did not pull the plug on this, the NBA execs did. That would be conflict of interest.
According to what I've been reading today, it was "papered" as if the Hornets, themselves, rescinded the deal. The owners collectively through Stern. NO other way for them to collectively override management, I suppose. Again, I haven't seen the agreements on how this franchise is to be governed. I'd like to see them. I'd bill my time to DaDa.
ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix The bottom line is that the teams involved in this deal aren't considering it dead
Beyond that....$15 million/year, basically, for a guy whose career numbers are 12/7?? Yikes. No thanks.
Some news... Gil Arenas first out amnesty door and @HowardBeckNYT says C-Billups next. Cap-room teams get first bids on players amnesty'd from Dec. 9-16
Gotcha. I agree with everything you just said. I misunderstood your earlier post to say that any conflict of interest automatically poses an insurmountable hurdle, but I agree that the Chinese Wall probably isn't applicable here. I was just posing a possible (admittedly weak argument). I'm a second-year law student, and this trade has absolutely killed my studying today during exam week.
Ok, so Nets sign Nene, and trade Lopez to the Rockets and we send assets to Orlando...another 3 way and we get our center. DD
