this will be the last season we stern as commissioner. i predict he makes the announcement during the next off season. this whole trade fiasco has spiraled out of control. i need to go get some more popcorn.
It puzzles me that some actually want Morey to leave. Be careful what you wish for. I think he is a good GM who has made this team competitive given the circumstances, star players in street clothes etc. I think some could be bitter, and it could be argued that he has done too good of a job, because we are not bad enough to get to the top of the lottery and get a hoped for franchise savior. Not too many of those guys to go around. This trade would not happen in a vacuum, and I think viewed in the overall context of the team is not bad at all. I liked the idea of a potential front line of Gasol/ Nene and keeping Chuck. While our offense would take a hit, along with starting Lee the defense would have been miles better and we could actually control the paint for a change and as long as Lowry was here we would still have that bulldog attitude. Losing Scola would hurt though but you have to give up to get.
This is a disaster, an absolute disaster. The Rockets, as an organization, have done everything right. We don't deserve this.
I hate to quote myself, but I think it deserves to be repeated. I think Morey is a great GM and would hate to lose him. Hopefully this was just his initial reaction, the trade gets reversed, and we can all move on. I really wish Les would allow Morey to rebuild the way he wants to instead of having to be competitive at the same time. Pugs
Morey is too skilled to quit and he has never showed a lack of effort. Hopefully he and the Rockets have very good attorneys... It appears that the NBA and Mr. Stern were placed in a bind by facing intense pressure from NBA owners who didn't want the trade to happen and the NBA's biggest concern was not ruffling with NBA owners when their greater objective is to maintain an active NBA season although the future of teams such as the Lakers, NBA's Hornets, and the Rockets are immediately affected the most by this trade block but more alarmingly the future of all other NBA teams who propose trades with the NBA's Hornets.
Morey is a all about finding sources of leverage and using the media as a way to deliver the leverage. I don't think he quits. I think he and Demps are coordinating by threatening to quit to communicate to the league that what they just did was unprecedented and breaches norms of fairness. It certainly ratchets up the pressure on Stern on this debacle. Well played.
The league owns the Hornets. The league has all the right in the world to veto a trade just as any other owner would do. Bottom line. And it was a terrible trade anyways, so Rockets fan should be bowing at David Stern's feet.
Yup ... Morey spent the last three years preparing for this deal (and by assumption, the deal for Nene). He had his ducks all carefully lined up in a row and was about to start pulling the trigger when Stern came along, took his gun from him and shot him square in the nuts. If I were DM I'd consider quitting too and never working in the NBA again. Nuts.
Not sure if you're serious but Roy is retiring. hehe. If the league cares about the Hornets, they wouldve done the trade because by season's end, Paul will walk and thats as clear as day then NO will have NOTHING like when LBJ left the Cavs. The NBA was clearly not acting for the best interest of the team.
Double whammy: this trade was supposed to give the Rockets $16mil in cap space instead of $12. New Jersey just offered Nene 4 years/$65 mil. So long, Houston. Yep, I'd want to quit too.
