It has been months since I've been hitting refresh, refresh, refresh on clutchfans, and I like it. Regardless of how you feel about the trade/non-trade/possible trade, isn't it damn cool that: (i) the NBA is back, (ii) the season is imminent, (iii) our Rockets are right in the middle of a blockbuster trade, (iv) clutchfans are squabbling about whether it's a good move or bad, (v) we're pontificating about whether there are more moves to follow, and on and on..... Coming out of the lockout, I can't think of a better thing to happen than a blockbuster trade involving a massive shakeup of the Rockets. We need to get off the pot, and if Morey thinks pairing Gasol with Nene is the answer, then let's go. I'll be happy to root for a team of Lowry/Flynn (Llull soon) Lee/Buddingggger Budd/Morris/TWill Gasol/PatPat Nene/Hayes It would give us a chance to see Morris on the floor 15/20 minutes a night. Maybe Twill could show something. (Personally, I love the trade and think it would put us in the 4-5 seed in the Western Conference and would significantly weaken LA. I tend to think that OKC is the favorites in the West, trailed by a weakened LA and Dallas, and then a gaggle of teams like us just behind. But that's not the purpose of this thread).
Hhaha and in all this mess I can't believe no-one really picked up Doc Rocket's post... Shame. Wouldn't have happened like this a couple of years ago.
I miss the lockout. At least during the lockout, you had hope that the league could fix its problems and eventually move forward with a product worth watching. Now, it's proven that the league is basically the WWE and there's no hope on the horizon (collective bargaining, etc.) to try and fix it.
Ditto, it is why I was ok with losing a season to get a hard cap, a franchise tag and fix this crap. Instead, the small market teams settled for making a profit. DD
Exactly. With this fiasco, I've lost the NBA until Stern retires or dies, and it's only that soon if someone competent is picked to replace him. That's much worse than losing one year if that's what it would take to actually fix the problems.
What we have is essentially a civil war between owners. Stern is no longer powerful enough to hold the group together. And as crazy as it sounds, I could see the NBA fragmenting, with small market teams forming their own league.
This is not something to be happy about. The NBA is on a path to become a complete joke and they've already agreed on the new CBA so there is no turning back.
Sucks to be a reporter at Chron where they just lost one of three main guys. It's impossible to keep up with all the news breaking today. This is insanity.
from the big ass Pau(l) thread... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6446210&postcount=2088 "As for brother Mark’s future, Gasol would like to 'see him with a franchise that has better options” than the Memphis Grizzlies.'"
Anyone figured out what Doc meant by that? Does it have anything to do with what was supposed to happen?
Holey shiznitz. At first there was a report that Pau Gasol didn't want to come to the rockets, but then a second report came out and said that he was threatening to sue the league along with Chris Paul. Maybe its because Morey was going to get both of them, and he's pissed at not being able to play with his brother.
