Yes, he stumbled in the playoffs after having a great regular season. I don't thnk that means he suddenly got old.

I agreed with this, until I read a post from someone that said the NBA appointed Demps and empowered him to avoid a conflict of interest and that Dan Gilbert's email shows a breach in that agreement with Demps.

One could certainly argue that case, it was an excellent argument, I wish I could find it, but it is buried in the myriad of threads etc.

Nene's lowest PER of the last three years is 18.8. And he was at 20.4 last year.

Scola's highest PER of his career is 18.4, last year.

    Scola's also older, and shorter.

Not that Nene is worth $15 million, but I don't believe Scola is MUCH better than Nene. I don't believe Scola is better than Nene at all. I do believe Scola has a better and more complete offensive arsenal, though.

    holy hell...i totally missed that.

yeah, this whole package is being ridiculously overrated if 35 rpg is the expectation. wow.

I am glad this is off, what a stupid idea.

Gasol is not someone you can build around. Considering his huge contract and age, I won't do the one to one trade with Scola for Gasol.

Broussard just said on ESPN that he thinks this trade will happen at the end of the day.

A legal trade was agreed to by the participating teams under the rules of the league. To over rule that is to circumvent the rules.

I understand your legal point - but if the NBA front office is the acutal GM for the Hornets then why did they hire one I have to wonder? This is a fiasco for them, and they essentially need to orchestrate any NO trade if this could be an outcome on every one.

Chris Paul will be gone from NO after his contract expires now anyway. This couldn't be a worse outcome for NO as a franchise.

I think Nene is a marginal upgrade to Scola. Paying him 1.5-2x what Scola doesn't seem sensible to me.

He is a very good PF, and is capable of being the go to guy against elite competition, Nene is not.

If Scola were better than Nene, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Add a fourth team to deal

Lakers receive: Chris Paul, Jarrett Jack, Jordan Hill, and Trevor Ariza

Hornets receive: Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger, Goran Dragic, Devin Ebanks, Derek Caracter, Darius Morris, James Posey (to be waived), Pacers 1st Rounder 2012 unprotected, Lakers 1st Rounder 2012, $3 million from Lakers

Rockets receive: Pau Gasol, Hornets 2012 2nd Rounder

    Pacers receive: Lamar Odom

Why it's good for Hornets: Gets rid of multi-year contracts of Ariza and Jack + $3million in cash. Receives 2 first round picks. Fills out roster nicely.

PG: Dragic / FA Signing / Darius Morris - Kind of weak: Maybe they sign Barea
SG: Kevin Martin - Nice, just need backups
SF: Bud, Pondexter, Ebanks - solid, cheap and young
PF: Scola, Caracter - Nice, need a backup
    C: Okafor - Good, need a backup

That would be a 30 win team this year. With a top 10 pick (their own), Middle of pack pick - Pacers, and late first (Lakers), they would be in playoff hunt the following year and have a core for years to come. Also, it would satisfy the angry owners.

Rockets: This deal would be much better for us when we don't have to give up any picks. Plus the Hornets 2nd rounder for 2012 is a nice add for a moneyball type.

Lakers: They get hit with the multi-year contracts of Ariza and Jack and send a first rounder instead of us. Plus use up all their allowable cash for this year. They would have to amnesty Walton or hope he retires or amnesty Blake probably. They get Jordan Hill for their size loss.

Pacers: They get an ideal PF for them. One who can let Hansbrough get some minutes and who can also play SF or small ball center. They would move up a tier in East with a sweet core of Collision-Hill-George-Granger-Odom-Hansbrough-Hibbert. That's sneakily a top 10 7-team man rotation.

    Who says no?

I goof up there lol. My point was more about the capacity of having a real power forward and a real center on this team.

How many times have we been out rebounded, had shots blocked, been abused in the paint? I'm sick and tired of it.

That's not the expectation. I would expect Gasol and Nene to keep doing what they've been doing. But Nene would look better because he'd get more minutes here.

Broussard also thought the deal hit a snag because the lakers wanted another big man. The dude is always a step behind and typically seems to be wrong. Not saying this isn't true but I don't take anything he says to be very accurate.

Nene is not as good of a rebounder as Luis....Gasol is very good, but Nene is pretty average to below average as a rebounder.
