It's easier and more plausible for one guy to have a 35-game injury than for two...

Scola is great. Will be really tough to lose him, eventually.

They hold the right to the 1st round pick in the Terrence Williams trade if they are in the lottery, but there is no way this team would be in the lottery with Gasol/Nene/ & Lowry running the team. That team would have trouble scoring, but would not have trouble making the playoffs.

I assume that there are other deals Morey was looking for a scorer on the wings to pair with that combo, or was looking to flip Gasol for a top scorer in trade. Lots of different contingencies with this deal, but goal was clear, get best frontline in West in Gasol/Nene & win now.

I think people who believe this deal would have allowed the Rox to get a good lottery pick, or that Les would even allow Morey to make moves to make us worse for a lottery pick are incredibly naive.

If they're planning on trying to get the trade through they should just let them stay at home.

I think a lot of the reasoning behind this is that it is a lot easier to find quality perimeter players than it is to find quality bigs.

If this landed us Nene, and allowed us to bring back Chuck, we would have one of the best Big rotations in the league.

With a solid 1 in Lowry, all that's left is to fill the wings, which are arguably the easiest postions to fill.

RJ, who will be amnestied by the Spurs, would be a reasonable option. He shot 44% from three last year and had a very respectable WS/48 of .130.

I'm sure Morey had some wings in mind, perhaps even the ones we already have in Budinger and Lee.

It was probably advised, but players have been waiting to get back to work for so long that, they just went anyway.

I've talked to a number of agents today. They all believe that David Stern will eventually allow the CP3 trade to go through. We'll see.

This whole Paul mess could've been avoided if the owners had just held out for an NFL-style franchise tag for players during the lockout.

Haven't seen a sports commish rescind a deal since 76 -- baseball's Bowie Kuhn made A's Charlie Finley take back 3 players he sold for cash.

Cavs owner Gilbert is right. With players forming SuperFriends teams, we're going to have 6 great clubs and the rest Washington Generals.

I think it's incumbent on good management to convince the owner what the right move are...particularly so in sports where management generally knows infinitely more about what it takes than ownership does.

Hopefully "eventually" means some time today or tomorrow. The more time passes, the less sense it makes for us. The Rockets had more moves in the queue, apparently.

Eventually isn't good enough. A big part of this deal for the Rockets is the ability to sign Nene and possibly Chuck as well. Needs to happen soon, or else a large part of Morey's motivation is gone.

It's obvious there are other considerations in play here, such as contracts, salaries, and other free agent signings after, but no way in hell is Gasol equivalent to the three players plus a first round pick just based on value. I would rather be the team receiving the three players and the first round pick if there were no other factors.

That's easy for him to say. I wonder if he was one of the writers tweeting how damaging it was for the NBA to be missing games.

I think this trade will happen. I cant believe we are gonna give up the player all rockets fans have come to love in Luis Scola. Not to mention we're freaking setting up the lakers! Disgusting......

    What are you talking about?

Think about the West teams this year vs last year.

Utah, Den, SA (due to too many back to backs), Dallas all got worse.

We would improve. LA Clippers improve. OKC gets better by experience.

The team you mentioned about would be a playoff team. I'm CERTAIN that would not be the final lineup either. I could see us pulling a Danny Granger too.

This is the reason why I`d rather have Scola than Gasol - the one whines about having to go to Houston, and had reports about a lack of worth ethic, the other is a class act, an overachiever and a great leader.

Yeah, Gasol is the better player - but I still root for Scola.

That may be true, but Morey has stated multiple times that Les is hardline against a rebuild that requires tearing the team down and going into the lottery.
