Richt is probably content with either. Win-win situation. UGA fanbase is on his ass, he could start fresh at TAMU.
I'm guessing it's going to be Richt. Sumlin gets a nice little payraise. Smart goes to Georgia. Everybody lives happily ever after. Except for Arizona State, teehee.
LOL...I don't know if Sumlin would be a good fit at A&M...who knows what will happen, but I guess we'll know soon...
I say: 90% Sumlin, 5% Richt, 5% True Surprise Splash Hire. I think we find out by the end of the day though, and if we don't then I think the chance of a bigger name hire goes up because I can't imagine them leaving Sumlin hanging much longer.
Except for Richt, who takes a step down to a worse job, despite having a really good season with a young team....which is why it's probably bogus.
They should also take a loan to make the armpit of the universe, B-CS, a lot more like Athens, which is one the few actual honest-to-goodness nice cities in the south. Then the playing field is a bit more level.
This is one of the reasons I want to snag a Richt-type coach. So everyone that thinks TAMU isn't a destination program can shut up. Its a tough assignment, but its also a great gig. I wouldn't say better than Georgia, but Richt would know better than I.
Supposedly someone called in on 610AM this morning and it was one of Richt's old assistants and he claims that they are still good friends and that he spoke to Richt last night and Richt said that he hasn't even been contacted by A&M. But lol A&M is basically swinging and missing at every big hire and keeping Sumlin as there backup. Surprised Sumlin hasn't just taken the raise from UH or went to another school, he probably wants the A&M job pretty bad
He was on the hotseat before the season and probably back on if Georgia falls off next year. aTm is probably an equal job should buy him 3-4 years atleast... Who knows I've think I've heard 20 different rumors on whos headed to college station
