Isn't that the story of the Rockets over the past decade? We could have had ...

Why is everyone so sure were were going to get Nene? And even if we had got Nene, it still wouldn't change the fact that the Lakers also get better, much better, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Why help the second best team in the West acquire another superstar? The goal isn't to just win more games, the goal is to win more games than your opponent. That Lakers line up would utterly crush us, probably in the first round, and that's Morey's ideal of progress?

Rockets fans don't realize that Stern actually helped us out.

Hmm, that's almost the same letter that MLB sent the Astros when they forced them into the AL West.

I disagree with that. I think the Lakers got much worse, in fact.

    Chris Paul
    Kobe Bryant
    Andrew Bynum

Has some potential, but it is also incredibly risky. Bynum is a proven injury risk. Kobe is steadily declining, and Chris Paul has knee problems. Artest is an idiot who can't shoot, and they do not have any other bigs. If Bynum goes down they might field total scrubs at the 4-5.

I think Pau Gasol and Nene would absolutely shred Bynum plus whoever their PF is. Even so, it's not like we would be done making trades after Pau/Nene. It would be the first step of many.

The NBA if F'd up! The backlash from this trade veto will be far greater than Stern would ever imagine. Back to football.

I don't know if the trade was a good idea or not. But the Rockets apparently put a lot of thought and preparation into it, and I wanted to see where their decisions take us. It sucks that all that planning just went out the window. I hope they have a good backup plan and don't make a rash, really bad decision.

The same could be said about Nene.

Exactly the thinking that got the trade vetoed.

I didn`t like that trade - but I have to agree. The NBA can`t act the way they did - if they didn`t want the trade they could“ve told the teams so a long time ago and not on the day before FA starts. Now 3 teams plans are basically screwed. I still hope this opens the door for some young talent or draft picks in Houston. I don`t think you can rebuild a championship team around a 31 year old Gasol.

But the big question: now what? Despite my hating on the proposed trade I still trust in Morey.

The initial trade, IMO made every participant team WORSE, so surely there was stage two or three, more coming in each case. The Rockets seemed to be the team giving up way too much which my friends is something of a pattern. Is Morey really the wizard that so many of you think he is? We are about to find out, because Stern just dropped he and the Rockets into a deep hole.

in my opinion, i am happy the trade didn't go through. why should our team trade our good players just to help another team such as the Lakers get a better player for themselves. they are already good with the team that they have now and all they want is to add more depth to their team. if they want to sign another player such as Chris Paul have some other team be part of it and keep our team out of their trade talks. our team is already good and really all we need is a center and that is it. i feel happy with the team we have now.

We were saved by this. We were going to look like Minesota when they gave away Gasol to the Lakers pretty much for nothing!
