The players crapped in a paper bag, wiped it on the door knob, set the sack on fire on the porch, then Chris Paul rang the doorbell and ran off. Stern opened the door, saw the sack on fire, stomped it out with his feet then turned around and opened the door and got crap all over his hands.

    Now everything stinks.

The league will have to reverse the decision to void the trade. No other transactions can effectively happen until it is resolved. It looks like it's going to require a court battle.

And everything stinks. And David Stern is back in the house with the owners loading up the shotgun to shoot everybody down.

It's got to stop. Stern may have to go. Billy Hunter needs to go too. Both men are losing credibility. Stern has completely bungled the New Orleans franchise by having the league buy the team instead of selling it to the highest bidder. He is single-handedly destroying the competitive balance right after negotiation a fairly effective bargaining agreement that did start to restore competitive balance.

Sad day today for the NBA and it's fans.

I didn't like this trade, but the NBA stepping in at the last second to veto it could be 10 times worse.

I agree there is a legit chance the NBA reverses course. If not, how can CP3 be traded this season to anyone else?

It goes without saying Stern needs to go. He's stayed on about 5 years too long.

I agree it needs to be reversed.

    What are the other options?
    1) Paul gets traded in a better deal for the Hornets. But who is going to offer the Hornets more than KMart, Odom, Scola, and a 1st round pick?

    2) Paul leaves as a free agent at the end of the season and the Hornets end up with nothing.

Nice job, Stern. Did he even think this through?

i did not want this deal to go through for multiple reasons

but the league office stepping in to kill it could be one of the stupidest things i have ever seen in sports and will surely be the end of stern, thankfully

this was bad for the league on so many different levels, not to mention the multiple lawsuits that could result from both the teams and players involved

So hypothetically, if this goes to court and the NBA has to reverse the veto but it takes weeks to months maybe... How can they even asure that all three teams will still want to do that trade??

I wasnt in favor of the trade but as someone mentioned above... I'd much rather have Pau on the Rockets than let Stern rig the league!

Most CBA's have no-strike, no-lockout clause after work stoppage. But those are normal businesses. The NBA is so dysfunctional it's scary.

Cutting salary and tanking would be the better option.

The Hornets would have either lost Okafor as well or Luis would've gone to the Lakers instead for the salaries to work.

The only way to 1. Sell the team and 2. Trade a superstar for Paul now is to move the team to Vegas

The NBA has become a three ring circus and the clowns are running the show.

Funny now before the lockout ended, Stern was regarded as one of the best in all of Sports. He deserves credit for getting White America to embrace a Black sport. But now, look at him.....

Dan Gilbert sending that email to Stern was incredibly stupid.

I think it probably gets done, but with a little different format.

Maybe the Lakers have to take on Ariza or more salary and give up some picks etc.

Exactly the opposite, they are running a business, and protecting their interests, and Dan Gilbert owns part of the Hornets, he is a stakeholder.

He has a RIGHT to let Stern know how he feels, Stern works for him.

It is bizzare how people can miss this fact....like people don't have a clue how businesses work.

My point was he should have called instead of putting it in writing. I've been in business long enough to know that some things should not be written.

exactly. regardless of how it went down, the fact is that all the owners have a stake in the Hornets, so they have a say in what can and can't be done.

It seems Gilbert like putting words in text so he can be lampooned and further distroy his franchise and his ability to sign players.

He knows the best way to win a championship before Lebron remember!

Agree. Now he's got egg on his face and so does the league. This is not what the NBA needed after the lockout ended nor what the fans deserved after witnessing the dysfunctional back and forth between the parties. I still can't believe what Stern did.

I don't think the trade will be allowed to go through, nor do I think it will end up in court. I do believe that Chris Paul will quietly be told that he's going to be dealt before opening day but not to a powerhouse.
