It just a few bad apples. Most Clutchfans know what an awesome opportunity this was.

    This.

Stop getting too attached to the players. I love Scola and Martin but they're big defensive liabilities.

At the least, the Rockets are severely decreasing their chances of making it to the finals for the next 3 seasons. Also, they are opening the door for Howard to play in LA. What can the Nets offer? The Lakers still have Bynum and picks which is better than nothing when the time for a S&T comes.

I doubt Howard would want to join the Lakers if all they have is declining players in Kobe, Artest, and Gasol...oh and Fisher's old ass. Letting the Laker's become irrelevant is the first step in landing a star player and contending in Houston.

The chances of us landing something better with Gasol rather than Martin, and Scola is minimal. This trade was only to make the Rockets a playoff team. It's all about money, and Houston just needs to be a winning team that makes the playoffs to be financially viable and sellout the TC.

Like many others have said i think that even if the league rescinds its decision .... we choose not to do it since we probalby wont be able to sign Hayes or Nene in time ... really sucks ... Nene/ Gasol / Pat / Hayes would have been the top frontcourt in the league .. PG would also have been a strength and Lee/ Twill / Bud / Morris isa wing rotation i cant live with and is young and will only improve .... On the brightside i worked out the hardest i ever have today due to the frustration of the deal dying .

You mean 2 of our best players that can't lead us to the playoffs? Gasol isn't our savior, but its a start. Make him the #1 option and who knows what might happen. Maybe he'll put up career numbers and someone will take the bait and offer something of value for him. Maybe it'll help another semi-star want to come here. Either way, something has to be done.

I have one honest question for you. Is the team that you propose, Lowry, Lee, Bud, Nene, Gasol, backed by Hayes, Patterson, Flynn, Morris a championship team to you? Remember, we'd be going against potentially a Lakers team with Kobe, CP3, Howard, the Heat, NY knicks (with Chandler, Amare, Melo), OKC, Bulls, etc. And also, by signing Nene, we would have 0 cap to sign anyone of significance next year also. So barring a trade, this would be the final roster. So is that team better than the teams I mentioned? Is it a championship team?

It's a step backwards. All we'd ensure is a playoff entrance based on many variables including injury prone NeNe signing with the Rockets, and Gasol giving the Rockets 100%.

Why do you guys want to end up like the Pacers/76ers....and at least they have young star players with upside.

With CP3 going to the Lakers, it effectively got them out of the Howard sweepstakes.

Dwight is more than likely going to the Nets in a S&T for Lopez and some picks. That trumps what Lakers could offer and Dwight actually wanted to go to the Nets.

CP3/Kobe/Bynum with no bench doesn't scare me personally. I think with our depth and size, we could have beaten them.

Plus, CP3 and Kobe aren't exactly spring chickens. CP3 could possibly end up like Roy in a few years.

While the question is not directed at me, I'd like to answer this with a YES.

It gives us a chance to compete with the big dogs with TWO LEGIT 7-FOOTERS. The only problem with the team would be getting a better set of wings but thats easier to accomplish than getting TWO LEGIT 7-FOOTERS.

The current team isnt going anywhere and will likely be playing .500 ball again. With the post-trade team, we'd be possibly competing for homecourt!

After Bynum the Lakers have Walton and Character. Do you have any idea what Gasol/Nene/Hayes/Patterson would do to /Bynum/Walton/Character? It would be so nasty Stern would have to step in......

And we wouldn't? Remember only players we are sending out are Martin and Scola, two old players with no upside for a top 5 big man.

That trade also helps us get closer to under the cap as well to re-sign Hayes and give Nene a reasonable contract.. We get bigger while retaining our flexibility.

We still have Morris, Patterson, Montiejunas, Parson, Budinger, and Williams, guys with upside and youth to either develop or trade for an all-star caliber player in the future.

I really think it is as close as we are gonna get ... if morey is really under orders not to blow it up ... That team has the best frontcourt in the West probably the NBA ... and like someone else said ... LA was not gonna get dwight for bynum + crap ... that should actually be crap + crap . Maybe we dont win it this year .... but aside from Gasol and Nene that whole team has the ability to get exponentially better . And Nene and gasol definitely have 2 or 3 years left. So i feel great about that team for 2012 onward . Pat and Chuck too...... BEST FRONTCOURT ... size wins championships and we would at leaast have a legitimate shot espicially if Lowry continued his development as a top 10 pg .... all we need then is for Morris or Lee or Twill to step up a little .. i dont think we would have a that huge of a problem scoring as Gasol is actually quite the scorer plus we would just dominate with size and get tons of offensive boards. Defensively we would be a monster . Talking about 2 great post defenders maybe 3 ... and Lowry is Solid as is Lee and Williams

Another factor you have to consider is that having two seven footers to play against is extremely exhausting for the opposing teams who don't have a similar front court. Additionally, the two seven footers are mobile and quick on their feet. Kobe post Shaq was less formidable when he didn't have the multiple seven footer front court that was supporting him.

    Sigh.....only one can dream now.

Funny, if you were to ask me a month ago that we could acquire Gasol AND Nene, I would have thought it was a pipedream.

It certainly was a reality, but for only a couple hours.

Dude, this whole "off of the top of my head" things is not doing you any favors. Your whole argument boils down to "Morey sucks for not being able to trade the lint from my bellybutton for a first team all pro." I mean, it is really f-ing funny that you think the New Orleans Hornets are going to trade Chris Paul and Okafor for Kyle Lowry, George Hill (hell, throw in Jordan Hill) and Roy Hibbert. How many number one picks have to be thrown in there? 9?

Why would the Pacers want Scola and Okafor for that matter if Hibbert is so "up and coming?" Two undersized post players? One who can't play defense and the other can't score if his life depended on it? Have you watched Okafor play for the last three years? He sucks.

The only team this trade would work for is the Rockets. Guess what? You may think taking a dump on a silver platter will buy a Lamborghini but it won't happen. So, sorry for being so blunt, but your premise is crazy.

If your goal is to make the playoffs then this deal makes sense. All this trade does is ensure the Rockets early playoff exits year in, and year out until and if the Lakers become irrelevant.

If Morey accepts the fact that the Rockets aren't winning a championship any time soon with Miami in this league then why support an ownership who concede championships to Miami, and LA.

Injuries are part of the game, and the Eastern conference is more difficult to beat than the west. Anything can happen, and who knows someone might take down Miami.

    PEOPLE!

We still maintain flexibility after this trade!

Montiejunas, Morris, Budinger, Williams, Hill, and Patterson would still be on our roster.

You don't think we could pick up a quality SF with those assets?

Why resign hayes in this scenerio when the team has patterson and maybe hill? To me, if they were to get gasol and nene, the need for hayes just doesnt equate.

I dont think anyone has a problem with getting gasol, the poblem is gasol at 19m for the next 3 yrs. Thats like Joe johnson contract to many. Johnson is a good player, very good player, but not at 20m. As stated before, gasol is not the type to lead your team, yet he will be paid like one. Nene is not one to lead your team, yet he will be paid like one.

If they added Nene after getting Gasol, they could easily get out of the first round of the playoffs. Also you don't magically become a title contender overnight. This deal gets them closer to that goal.

All Kevin Martin and Luis Scola ensure is a fringe playoff team with no upside.
