Good. That means Pau is a bigger d0uche than all Houston fans thought. I dont see how his wanting to come here is even a story since he had no choice with 3 years left on his contract.

The sad part about this is the Nene situation. Now the Rockets will not have the cap space to sign Nene, and Nene wont want to sit around and wait a few weeks to find out if the NBA ever allows this trade.

The Rockets had the chance to get far enough under the cap to sign Nene, and possibly resign Chuck if they played their cards right. Gasol/Nene with Chuck/Patterson on the bench would be deep and very, very good.

The wings, and PG's would have alot of work to do to put points on the board, but easily would have been one of the best defensive teams in the league.

I think this reflects my feelings as well. I'm not a huge fan of Gasol but exceptional big men are hard to find. Though I don't entirely agree that he's the second best in the league, it's arguable. The fact that he's easily a top five big man would be enough.

Shooting guards are easier to come by in the draft and the loss of Scola may actually make it possible to keep Chuckwagon. We would gain an excellent offensive center and possibly get to make Chuck our defensive PF.

If it opened up the possibility to pursue Nene that would be gravy.

Building around Gasol got the Grizzlies what? A couple of 1st round sweeps and playoff misses.

We can trade for a star player. Apparently, we have enough to acquire Chris Paul. What we likely can't do is sign a star player using cap space.

Actually it's not. If trading Paul makes the other owners pay more in salary then they have a right to not want to pay more. These mopes just spent all summer crying about parity and spending $$.

That`s what I thought of Pau. He doesn`t want to be the centerpiece of a rebuilding team that is not playing in a big market (yeah I know Houston isn`t small - but everybody just wants to play in NY, LA, MIA, CHI or DAL these days).

So **** Pau - and let`s get us a team that is proud to be Rockets.

There is no way the Lakers will be able to sign Paul.
