Well the owners are trying to stop this and I am all for this. This is ridiculous.

This trade substantially improves the Rockets, puts the Lakers in position to be the next Heat if anything with superstars surrounded by scrubs, and gives the Hornets two legit scorers, a decent PG in Dragic and a first round pick.

    Stern can fist himself.

I am just laughing nervously, all you can do is toss your hands up and laugh.

I don't blame Morey for trying to get Gasol, I don't blame the Hornets for getting the best deal they can, and I don't blame the Lakers for trying to stave off father time, and I certainly do not blame the owners for vetoing a deal in which they would have had to foot the bill of a franchise losing money.

Just one big old cluster****.....welcome to Houston Mr. McHale, good luck coaching a team with 12 or more rotational players and trying to keep them all happy.

All you can do, is laugh.

Can they just invalidate any trade? or any trade involving the Hornets?

I'd like to hear their reasoning and regardless of how I feel about the trade I don't like the idea of the league being able to override transactions that are completed within the guidelines of the CBA.

I'm delighted the trade was blocked. It reeked of short sightedness and desperation.

The NBA gained excitement around the world tonight.

God job on ruining that NBA. Wasn't thrilled with the trade but think it's bull**** that it is stopped.

I don't think we're better off in this deal, but this is one of those deals where there is most likely a follow up move. I'm kind of disappointed that we don't get to see if Morey actually has something else up his sleeve.

But I think a lot of people don't realize Lakers are actually much much worse. They lose TWO reliable big men, one of them is a perennial all-star and the other is the 6th man of the year.

Gasol, when healthy and playing well is invaluable. His level of talent is as rare as Chris Paul's.

NOH would have been the sole winner of this deal.

I'm happy the deal was blocked. It made the Rockets a worse team.

Just the Hornets because the NBA(thus all the owners) actually owns the Hornets too....and they are a franchise that is losing money so they have to float them some cash every year.

And with this trade, they would have had to pay out a lot more cash......

I don't blame them one bit.

I'm sort of happy the deal is blocked. But I'm definitely not happy the other owners had forced this. This isn't fantasy basketball let the teams do they want, why would the owners speak up now and not speak up before when the Lakers were throwing out **** for Gasol? (yes I know Hornets are NBA owned but still).

Stern didn't do ****! The owners did. The NBA just got through a lock out, and you wouldn't want to piss of the owners.

I don't want the NBA telling us who we can and cannot trade.

The damage has been done to our players already.

The owners pressured Stern and he told the Hornets to pull the plug, Stern made the call.

You guys are misinformed. The owners OWN the hornets. Thus they can block any trade the hornets make. It would be like Les blocking a trade the rockets made.

Agreed. This is beyond ridiculous. If the Hornets weren't allowed to make trades then this should have been clarified when the NBA took over. How in the hell could Stern or any of the owners let all this Chris Paul speculation continue if he was never able to be traded. Complete garbage by Stern and the owners.

Wow, so the owners would rather lose money on the NO team than contend with the star studded Lakers. I bet many of the contending teams were calling every GM to vote no and put a stop to this.

25-5 you say? Who were the two that voted with Houston, LA, and NO? Was in Minnesota, and Memphis?

Hey, the Texans made the playoffs. Gotta generate interest from Houston sports fans one way or another.

No it didn't. It took away our ability to do anything significant in free agency, took away our ability to be better defensively at SG and PF. Took away our ability to attract FA's.

    Courtney Lee>Kevin Martin
    Pau Gasol>Luis Scola
    Marc Gasol/Nene/DeAndre Jordan>Chuck Hayes

Re-signing Chuck Hayes off the bench.

    Kiss it all goodbye.
