I was looking forward to Gasol vs Duncan next Saturday... Maybe the Rockets can still trade for Gasol? Who am I kidding, the Lakers won't do it without a superstar.
I hate Gashol I am no racist, and I like the Spanish national team but once an ostrich always an ostrich
As soon as Chris Paul steps out publicly and says he will refuse to play and threatens to sit out the season until the trade is passed Stern will fold. What team would trade for Paul after this? The Hornets will end up with nothing and it will be Sterns fault.
Its a conflict of interest position that shouldn't have been allowed in the first place. They should have just allowed the market to remain independent and wait for another investor to buy the team. The NBA and team owners are wearing two hats , one hat is as owner of their respective franchise to which they owe their loyalty and responsibility. And another hat as indirect owner of another team. Which team's interest will they prioritize , the team they directly own or the other team they only have an indirect interest in. The NBA owners want to make their cake and eat it too. What if the Hornets reach the NBA playoffs, will the NBA owners use their influence to get better calls from the refs?
You need to see the bigger picture. Pau is a piece you can build around. Scola/Martin are not. Capspace is something you can use to build a team. We were not going to be handed a star player (it is tough to get teams to let go of them and Houston is not a sexy city). And with Les as owner, we were not going to tank.
What if Nene has signed elsewhere by then? Then the Rockets were just screwed by the rest of the owners, they should get a compensation pick for this crap.
All accounts were that we were going to OFFER a deal to Nene. Just earlier today they were reporting Denver as likely to offer him near max money.
RicBucher Ric Bucher Reports are owners squashed Hou-LA-NO deal, citing conflict of interest for NBA-owned NO. But sources say Pau didn't want to go to Hou, too.
