Unfortunately, a lot of this job is dumb luck. Look how lucky the Lakers almost got today. It isn't the first time, and it won't be the last time.
I don't really think it was that great a trade for the Lakers. They would have no front court, no bench, and both Kobe and Chris Paul are most effective when they dominate the ball. Some fans are just delusional if they think another GM would be doing a significantly better job. Everyone wants the team to be built into a contender, but please explain what another GM would succeed in doing that would turn this team into a contender at this point that Morey hasn't tried? Keep in mind that the owner has already taken the option of tanking off the table, and changing GM's isn't going to change that.
I think firing him should be considered by Les. He hasnt delivered and has managed to embarrass this franchise for the last few seasons trying to acquire star players and come up short in embarrassing flameouts. Time for Les to put some heat on Morey to perform or search for another job.
all of you are stupid to listen to rumors and judge someone. in the span of a few hours, there's been 5436785322x conflicting “insider/sources" info by the media fools who don't have any shred of journalistic integrity because you all are not wise enough to filter trash. I propose that there should be a minimum criterion for being able to make threads
So what GM do you think would have "delivered" over the past several seasons? Pick any GM in the league and we still wouldn't have Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Carmello, Deron Williams or Chris Paul on this team today. All of the stars who have been traded or free agents have had very short and selective lists of where they wanted to go, and changing GM's wasn't going to change that list. It's easy to say you want the GM to deliver a star for the team, but much harder to cite scenarios where a different GM would have made a difference. Considering the cap space nightmare he inherited and the total lack of talent among most of the supporting cast prior to Morey, I think he has done as good a job as is reasonable to expect. Certainly he could pull a trade tomorrow that I hate and change my mind completely, but for me to want to get rid of him I need to feel like there is someone else who could clearly be doing a better job.
The deal was soo bad that even the other owners vetoed it. Now if that's not a sign of a crap trade I don't know what is. Morey smh...
Laters doubters. Just keep you and your lil sorry ass'es when we get that number 1 seed. That said, if the trade went down today, half the Heat fans would instantly become new Lakers fans.
Its ridiculous how everyone thinks Heat fans are bandwagoners... they aren't BANDWAGONERS they are FAIR WEATHER fans. There is a HUGE difference between the two. (Obviously every team is going to have some degree of bandwagoners because of player movement, etc. Rockets had a bunch of bandwagoners during the 22-game winning streak. It happens).
