Sure they can, they are all footing the bill for the Hornets.

    WOW!!

So the Hornets are not allowed to make basketball decissions? How is that even close to being fair? Sorry NOH but you have no choice but to let CP3 walk next season and get nothing back. Not one fan should attend a NOH home game. That just blows me away.

Baseball had a similar situation two years ago with the Texas Rangers as the league was subsudising the team when it was in bankruptcy but they still allowed them to make baseball moves.

The NBA has killed the proposed deal to send Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

Welp, Rockets back to being the best team not to be in the playoffs. I felt this trade was going to be the first domino. Lets hope DM has a plan B.

It makes a lot of sense, and I mentioned it a while back in the original Paul rumors thread - the NBA (owners collectively) owns the Hornets. They've vowed to make Hornets work in NO.

Selling Paul with no box office return hurts the already difficult task of selling tickets in a region that only cares about the Saints and LSU...which in turn hurts the already difficult task of selling the team to a new owner with taking an additional loss from Shinn's buyout.

Shinn left when the NBA forced him to come back from OKC (where he turned a profit) and back to drowning in red ink. This was with Paul. With a team somewhat competitive and making the playoffs.

Firesale Paul with no successor to bring in fans, and this team really will have to be contracted or moved.

Every owner takes a loss if that happens...so why wouldn't they be up in arms over this trade? 25 owners irate...sounds about right.

    Not Stern, the owners.

People complain about the NBA being the Laker show. Not today.
