Al_Iannazzone Al Iannazzone That's right. New Orleans also gets Kevin Martin. Good deal for Hornets. Rockets need to do something else.
It also works if Scola heads to the Laker and two Hornets scrubs in Pondexter and Ewing go to either Rockets/Lakers.
OK, I'll admit it... and I know I'm not alone Part of the reason I hate this trade so much... (aside from the fact that we gave up waaaay too much) I CAN'T STAND PAU GASOL! I don't like the way he plays (soft) I don't like the way he chokes in big games I don't like the way he constantly flops & complains. I don't even like the way he looks with his floppy hair I have been a die hard Rockets fan all my life, but this will really test me to cheer for this guy. He's like the anti Scola (or Hayes).

I think this has to be the plan. It's also why I can't see them investing a lot of money in Nene, that still doesn't make this team a contender. I think the plan is to get younger and that Gasol will bring a decent return (hopefully) at a later date. Funny... I have been all for starting the rebuilding mode but now that it's actually here got to say that I'm a little nervous.
clutchfans ClutchFans.net Likely requires amnesty on Thabeet. RT @daldridgetnt Rockets pushing hard to get Nene deal done. Will almost certainly take $12-14M/yr avg.
Their biggest asset, by far, is cap flexibility, which they still have and actually improved. Their second asset is perceived young talent (Patterson, Morris, Budinger, etc.). I think it's quite clear that their veterans (Scola/Martin) weren't going to be the foundation to a No. 1 that many of us hoped. So, they flipped them in a solid deal for a No. 2 and will keep plugging along.
But you thought 31 year old Scola + 28 year old Martin should have been? You avoided answering the questions. Either you think we could have done better with these assets now (then name how) or you are just complaining for the sake of continuing with your anti-Morey agenda.
yeah, would like this clarified too. It seems like all hese guys are talking to some ****ing confused sources. He's not the first to leave martin out.
Thanks, crash. Of course, if that's actually the deal. Plus, the team has to do something with it, I assume.
Yes, but if Marc wants out, he can tell Memphis he is signing the qualifying offer and walking away at the end of the year if they don't S&T him to where he wants to go. He's got the leverage to make a move if he wants to use it.
Since when did Morey claim to be "rebuilding"? Gasol is 31, but still performing at basically the same level as he ever performed. As a 7 footer, he can probably stay very good for a few more years at least. Look at Kevin Garnett, who is 35 has been playing on one leg the last couple of seasons, still very very good. Gasol isn't even injured like Garnett. All the pieces traded are replaceable. Gasol will basically take Scola's minutes, do everything Scola does and a few things neither Scola nor anyone else on the roster can do-- like protecting the rim. Losing Martin will hurt, but it's easier to find another good scoring 2 guard in the draft, in a trade or free agency than to find a useful 7 footer-- did anyone notice the bidding war for Tyson Chandler? As for Dragic, remember Morey essentially got him from the scrap heap while he was having nearly as bad a year as Aaron Brooks. It's not that hard to find a backup PG somewhere. As for the picks-- they are unlikely to be high picks, and mid to low picks are not that hard to trade for. We trade for a couple this year and used them on Motiejunas and Parsons.
