It looks like clearing cap space to sign a Center is the point of this deal to me. NIKE, how much and whom? If it's 16 Mil won't that buy THE #1 free agent of your choice , who is willing, and his team won't match (=whom?)

i think a lot of people here are underating gasol just cause they hate him and because he was a laker. Fact is he is as good as a big man as your gonna find in the league and as much as i love scola kmart and dragic, they were not gonna get us anywhere. 1st rounder sucks tho
This trade makes absolutely no sense to me. Scola and Martin contribute at least 30 ppg together and 8-10 RPG. Gasol is around 20 ppg and 9 PPG. He is not worth Scola, Martin, AND a draft pick.....
The only way this trade makes any sense is if Morey really believes in Lee and Patterson. If Lee can produce near Kmart numbers, then this will be a good trade. Kind of addition by subtraction like the Brooks trade.
If Morey is really intending to go after Nene, I say through that money to Marc Gasol and see what happens. I don't think Nene's worth more than 10 mil.

For those who wanted Rockets to rebuild, this IS a rebuilding move. We traded KMart and Scola, which we already knew was going to happen in order to rebuild. Now we have Gasol + young nucleus to build around.
All I can say is I am going to hold further opinion until all the chips settle into place. If anyone around even remotely believes he knows how Morey's mind works, what we see right now is NOT the final outcome. Step back, relax.........Give it 24-48 hrs. Then lets see who is going where and how many picks we still have.
