For the LAST time, Pau Gasol has NOT declined. Not even remotely.

He had his best year as a Laker last year and had the 2nd best year of his career.

And with the new way they're going to be calling fouls this year, Martin is losing one of his main methods of scoring. He's due to have a down year. If there were a time to trade him, this would be it.

If the report is true, we just traded Martin and Scola, two good players but not all-star good, for an All-NBA caliber player.

I like this deal a lot. Gasol can play PF or C, and he's one of the best low post offensive options in the game. Strong rebounder too.

The Rockets need to add some more interior defense. But this is a clear upgrade IMO.

Edit: Dragic too? Too bad, because I liked him a lot as a backup, but I still do this deal. Maybe the kid we picked up from Minnesota can prove himself. Or, hey, how about Terrence Williams as a backup PG? :)

I really hope we end up flipping Gasol for something else (preferably guaranteed lottery picks)

I just cannot picture that douche bag in a Rocket jersey!

Maybe Yao need to come out of retirement if we do get Pau.

But on a serious note here. I think Morey is just trading for the sake of trading. Martin and Scola is greater than a Pau Gasol.

Why? I firmly believe that Morey is simply following orders and doing what Les ordered him to do. I think the problem is ownership, not management.

Morey has to have an after plan for this trade.

Rockets get an all-star at PF/C, lose about $7 million off their books, which will give them the money to make their final push for Nene.

    I'm 100% for this deal.

Best scenario Gasol giving us a higher draft pick.

Right because every person from MIT makes perfect decisions as a GM of an NBA team ... every time.

Look, smart people do make mistakes and anyone with a brain should see this as one.

Lee or Twill will be fine as starters when Kmart is gone. Martin was here to play with Yao but that never worked out so it was bye bye for him. Gonna miss Scola the most. Hope still for the best for Luis but this deal has to go down. Gasol is one of the best PF/C in the NBA period. Our D will get a HUGE boost with Martin gone and Patterson and Gasol in the frontline.

Like I said: win now to get the 6th seed. This trade won`t make us a contender. It will help us make the playoffs. But it will kill our chances at a serious rebuild because we trade away our best assets and don`t get anything for the future of the team. Pau will be able to produce at a high level for perhaps 2-3 more years. But this team needs more than Pau to be a contender, and without Scola and Martin we are not getting what we need. We have no goto guy - and without signing a center like Nene we also have no real center.

There is only one scenario I can think of that would make this trade good: we somehow manage to get Marc Gasol because the brothers want to play together.

we just need a center and we have a team ready to compete.
