Also, kinda of sucks that Marc Gasol is restricted. I'd imagine the Gasol's would love playing on the same squad. Gasol, Gasol would be a cool frontcourt combo.

i think the only reason the rockets move scola and martin for pau is to make room for patterson at the 4, and lee at the 2, while acquiring a legit 7'0 with game. still don't like this trade as it doesn't clear cap or give us young pieces to build around. plus we are giving up a lot of talent for one guy.
It makes perfect sense if you think Les wants a name he can use to sell tickets. It doesn't matter if tanking is a bolder and smarter strategy, because Les needs to fill those seats this season. I cannot think of any other explanation that makes sense. With this trade, the Rockets are officially Fool's Gold.
Martin gives up just as many points as he makes so in essence he has zero impact; Lee on the other hand can lock a man down, finish and has a good shot... then gasol is an upgrade on Scola (be realistic); then sign a Center like Sam Dam or Nene and you have a stronger team all around. It's simple math.
