WTF is New Orleans thinking??? Why would they want Gasol and Odom for their franchise player? They are not pieces to build around for the long term.

Not really. As long as the jerseys say Lakers on the front, they will be able to get away with trades like this. They have been doing this stuff for decades - remember that little trade with Milwaukee for Lew Alcindor? Just how did that work out for them, hmm?

You crazy. They might sign him in the offseason but if Bynum is not enough to get Paul he sure is not enough to get Dwight.

They are going to get Dwight. This is how it is, this is how it always is. The Lakers always get their guy, in fact they always pay less to get their guy. That's why they are the Lakers and that's why they stack championships.

Bynum showed nothing or who are talking about?
Gasol was the catalyst of their last title.

Yeah in 2012 Lakers fan. Not trading for him with Bynum as the centerpiece.

Just baffled that it happens every time. It's like teams turn stupid when dealing with the Lakers. Paul for Rondo is clearly a better deal...instead the Hornets trade for two aging players.

Sources tell ESPN that Houston Rockets remain part of Chris Paul talks and are in advanced discussions to receive Pau Gasol from Hornets

Sucks doesn't it? But that's today's NBA where 70% of the players only want to play for 5 teams.

We need young talent or a grown superstar - Pau is neither. He used to be a great player and he still is one helluva PF, but he is not elite anymore. I´d be perfectly fine to add Pau as one piece - but not as the main piece. And when we have to give up basically all of our assets (Scola, Martin and a pick) I definetly don`t like the proposed trade.

So I am good with the no trad here. Scola and Martin can continue playing on a high level for a couple of years and can be a great piece on a championship team. I do believe we can get more from them then Pau.

The problem with Houston is: the superstars don`t want to sign here. That`s why we aren`t getting Paul and that`s why we won`t get Howard. Our only chance really is to draft one or trade for a young aspiring guy that might develop into a superstar.

Hey and if you told me that the Hornets would deal Pau for CP3 I'd laugh in your face.

Bynum is infinitely more attractive to a team like Orlando who is going to have to virtually start over after losing Howard. Gasol does nothing for them but maybe get the 7th or 8th seed for a couple of years. Which is why it is so perplexing that New Orleans took Gasol.
