If this deal is on the table, surely a Lowry/Martin for Paul deal could have happened. Paul must have them really convinced he doesn't want to play in Houston. It's so frustrating. WE should be the ones going for Paul and Howard.
Wake me when there is something more concrete. Before that, I refuse to either judge a possible deal (no way knowing the exact specifics) or get excited/pissed off about it.
I'm fine with letting go of Scola, Dragic, and Martin. I have no reason to believe any of those players would be integral on a championship squad. Scola is the most appealing to me, and Pau has similar strengths and weaknesses with a higher ceiling. The moment you start talking about giving away picks in the deepest draft we have seen in years in order to take on a scoring 4... one who obviously cannot be THE guy. That's the moment you lose me on this trade. It's a trade with no purpose other than just making a move, and limiting our chance of getting one of the many studs that will be in the first round 2012.
Martin and Scola were discussed in the Melo drama last season. I didn't effect them. You're reading into this too much.
This is what most people are missing. A player of Gasol's calibur (or contract) is easier to trade then 2 good players of smaller contracts. Pau can be AMNESTIED, unlike players signed under the new CBA. This could be an attractive way to cut salary for a team and therefore useful in a trade.
Lets not forget that CP3 has really bad knees. If the Lakers backed off I bet it means that Morey asked for more. This is always the case with Morey as I've said, he's not going to settle for a so-so deal. It's usually a big win or it's not a deal at all.
Honestly, I don't think owners care anymore. It's obvious that stars want dream teams and journeyman/role players want a payday. In the end, respect and loyalty have nothing to do with it. Not any more.
I don't know, they seem pretty professional. It's like not it used to be, teams aren't as dedicated to their players and players aren't as dedictaed to their cities or teams. Hell, these days it seems teams aren't even dedicated to their cities.
I don't think you can amnesty a guy you traded for, I think he has to be on your current rosters to qualify. DD
It matters, at the end of the day it is an emotional sport, if players start mailing it in.....you will be able to tell. Look at Aaron Brooks last year as an example.... Some players it would not matter, others it will. DD
Who's going to be peeved? I would guess that majority does not like a Gashole trade because they'd lose fan favorites.
Exactly! I wonder if Les is have cash problems and is looking to increase attendance even if it means we mortgage our future.
i am waiting to see the lawsuit from Mark Cuban if a paul to la trade happens citing collusion saying the NBA helped the lakers by basically having a 'farm' team for them in the hornets
If we can get Pau along with Odom, I'm down for the deal. I just don't wanna give up our young players. Scola and Martin seems fair though. Lowry Lee Bud/Odom Gasol Dalembert/Nene I mean it is fine. But Nene isn't a lock. We are still mediocre. We would have no chance at Dwight either
